Automobilia etc....

It is sad, but there's nothing we can do about it. At least he didn't kill anybody. My buddy Brian Morelock warned me, these things are going up up up in value and I didn't believe him. Nothing ever does. Until this. I should have bought one when they were $110k.

The Ford GT is my dream car.

My daughter snapped this photo and said this is the car she wants to get.
I can’t tell what make it is.

Some photos from last year popped back up in my phone so I figured I would share.

The shocks on the old Honda were nearing the end of their service life. After a couple of months of deciding, I talked myself into upgrading to some quality coil-overs.

Really enjoyable job, made a lot easier by the rust free condition of the car. Set to the softest setting it rides better than my wife’s Acura and on the firmest setting it’s rigid enough for track use. It also set the car about 3/4” lower which is about perfect. Never thought I would go back to a lowered car as a fully formed adult, but this is pretty easy to live with. Money well spent.

MiniS.jpgI bought the wife a new daily driver. 6 speed manual transmission, turbo. We've been getting 30/35 mpg and, unlike most cars that get that kind of mileage, it's actually fun to drive.

Let's just hope it reliable. We've been getting 250,000+ out of our Chevy/GMC daily drivers. The last European vehicle we owned was constantly in need of repair.

On a side note...I didn't think about it at the time but, for our 1st wedding anniversary, I bought her a aspen blue GMC Typhoon (1 of 28). This is our 21st year of marriage and I bought her this.

Deposit placed. I pick it up on Sunday if I’m happy with how it drives.

I love this thing. I get why people like German cars. It feels substantial and very well built. Tons of cool features and my goodness it has good power and torque. The civic was quick, but it had a narrow sweet spot and the 192lbs of torque felt light compared to the 273 the VW develops.

The GTI reminds me of my old Mazdaspeed 3. It also makes there S2000 more fun. The Honda feels more nimble and you just further realize how different these two cars drive.

Of course 192 feels light compared to 273 lol.

Still not a huge fan of anything German. They are a b**** extended warranty cost wise.
