Then they should be getting ready to retire soon, no?. If the geezers hadn't allied themselves with Russia and taken up arms then nobody would be lobbing bombs at them. They're the minority and most of them descend from recent immigrants, so it's not like they're fighting invaders to defend their motherland.
Russia has Nazis fighting for them too. In the big picture that doesn't matter. Both sides have their huge warts. Yes our politicians are using the situation for their political and their donors financial gain. Yes the US has not dealt in good faith on NATO expansion. Yes very many Americans are on the Ukraine bandwagon and believe only what they want to believe.
But: the cause of this war is Russia unjustifiably invading Ukraine. Generally speaking Ukraine is right to defend itself and we are right to support them.

People said the exact same thing about the Chechens 20 years ago. They said they would never forgive The Russians and would forever be a problem for them.

Today, the Chechens are their most fierce fighters... the saw back then how The West used them as proxies and convinced them to fight to the very last Chechen and nearly destroyed their country.
