Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

I don’t recall us ever playing JJJ at the 5, but if we did, he’s still 220+ and an elite defender.

Pons has a 40 inch vert and built like a tank. One of the best shot blockers to ever come through the SEC.

Neither are comparable.

JJJ has never been listed anywhere over 220lbs, why are you always so full of ****? The heaviest he's been listed is 214lbs...

And you do realize that Phillips is 6'8" and a top 15 recruit right? Oh and he can jump out of the building.

Come on, if Fulky/ON both can play the 5 there is no doubt Phillips can...

Aidoo and Plavsic can be the center. Phillips cant. If he had to guard someone like Dickinson for Michigan he would get destroyed.

Yup its more like professional FA than anything else.
My 2 cents but I've always thought the portal should only be available to kids who's coach leaves the school, or in football their position coach. But this free for all stuff sucks. Schools aren't going to have those 3 or 4 year guys that fans fall in love with very much anymore.
From a fan perspective we’d like to hang onto our good players. We’d also like to send guys down the road who aren’t producing and replace them with new guys who might do better. But, why should players be any more restricted than regular students? Athletes might get to a program that isn’t a good fit or they don’t like the culture and they ought to be able to move on to what they perceive as a better opportunity. If I’m working somewhere and decide I don’t like it there nothing stops me from leaving that company. Why should a student athlete be more restricted than anyone else in this country. Hopefully you have a program and coach that guys WANT to play for so they stay, not they have to stay.

That’s an impressive leap!

Is BHH leaving? Someone posted that TOS is reporting he's leaning that way.

On BHH

Here's the deal, and where things stand at the moment; he met with the staff late this week and from what I have gathered it really didn't end well. Not going to go into detail but he apparently didn't hear what he was hoping to hear or get assurances he was after.

As of right now he is not in the portal, though it does sound like things are heading that way. However, someone we spoke with this afternoon told me that based on past history they wouldn't be shocked if the young man called and said he changed his mind he was staying.

Tennessee will not be chasing him to stay, I can say that with some conviction based off what I've heard this afternoon. The ball is in his court, but doesn't sound great at the moment.

Supposedly no showed to workouts and then called Barnes demanding a guaranteed 30mpg, you can guess how that ended.
It’s so frustrating to watch post after post come here and flame out. I’m all for demanding a strong culture but it’s been a long track record of the same thing over and over.

His offer was pulled from UK coming out of high school and was rumored to have personal issues.

Sounds like the rumors ended up being true.

Fulky has been routinely pushed around the last 2 years and didn’t have a major role till he was an upperclassman. Why do you keep acting like two players with similar heights mean they can play the same position?

Recruiting ranking/ jumping ability doesn’t translate to being able to play center so idk why that’s even relevant.

And if you’re going to nitpick over 6lbs, so be it. Josiah is still a tank compared to Phillips. There’s not a starting center in the SEC Phillips will be able to check on defense.

Because these athletes dont come to school for school, and anyone that thinks that well I have some ocean front property in the Dakotas to sell you. These kids have been getting recruited for 2+ years before they get to whatever college they end up at them being whiny babies because they dont want to sit and learn vs running into free agency for their next best offer. Honestly instead of recruiting and NIL just sign these kids to straight up contracts the way its going now.
