War in Ukraine

Ukraine has received about 25,000 anti-aircraft weapons systems from the United States and its allies, helping Kyiv prevent Russia from establishing air superiority that would have aided Moscow's ground invasion, the top U.S. general said on Thursday.

Army General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the United States and its allies had also supplied Ukraine with 60,000 anti-tank systems.

"The Ukrainians ... are very, very thankful, extraordinarily thankful," Milley told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

You do realize it's being artificially propped up right now right?

You might say all currencies are artificially propped up right now. None of them are based on anything tangible. Remember when a dollar bill had "SILVER CERTIFICATE" rather than "FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE" printed at the top?

Finland is preparing an application to join NATO. According to Finnish sources NATO members are giving security assurances while the application is being processed given previous Russians threats.

"What’s become clear is that despite an incredibly wide-ranging package of sanctions on the Russian government and its oligarchs, and an exodus of foreign businesses, the actions are largely toothless if foreigners keep guzzling Russian oil and natural gas -- supporting the ruble by stocking Putin’s coffers."

"Even as Russia remains mostly cut off otherwise from the global economy, Bloomberg Economics expects the country will earn nearly $321 billion from energy exports this year, up more than a third from 2021."

Truth hurts. The world has to have fuel for energy; it's that simple. Something the cavemen could figure out, but environmentalists and people imposing sanctions can't seem to grasp. The higher the fuel cost, the more economies are damaged. Increased fuel costs are more harmful than any tax because the need for power is more pervasive than taxes ... unless you tax fuel itself.

Ahh, here we go again...lets fire up the German comparisons. I see very clear is the funniest part of this post. You have yet to get one thing right in this thread, so I doubt you are now seeing very clear on anything. Always fun to see those who support actual Nazi's in Ukraine make German comparisons of Russia. Good grief.

Well, sometimes you are right. Germans built crematoriums to dispose of the people they killed; Russians just leave them in the street. I guess you could say that Nazis were more civilized and environmentally conscious than uniformed Russian thugs.

Russia faces brain drain as thousands flee abroad

Russia’s Brain Drain Becomes a Stampede for the Exits

Per Motley Fool:

Russian Tech Workers Are Leaving For More Stable Pastures

Meanwhile @volgr denies brain drain is real.

Must confess to my struggle not to LOL at the heaping pile of irony.

More than worth it not to have them unhappy and constantly trying to subvert the status quo. Wish we could shed a large portion of our leftists.

I believe Putin used the term “cleansed” or “cleansing”.

Maybe once he is removed he can go to writing for Hallmark.

More western propaganda that was legitimately discussed on this board...

THAT is exactly what I am talking about. Too many here and elsewhere lap up whatever swill the media and this administration are serving without question. Understand that is an INFOWAR as much as a live ammo one in Ukraine. What Americans also don't get is that they are just as naïve in the cultural wars that are even more of a propaganda war than is going on for Ukraine. None of us have ANY idea really what is going on over there. The media here is not reporting news, they are selling a product like target sells clothing. Russia is of course doing the same thing but not nearly as well.

The only surprise with this is that the mea culpa came out so quickly instead of a year later when everyone has forgotten.

Recognize when people are trying to manipulate your emotions through various stories - they have an agenda. Take care lest you are their "useful idiot."

Brilliant plan Putin. You certainly stopped the eastward march of NATO. No wonder Donny thought your plan was so savvy.

Maybe he will invade Finland before they can join. Their military is exceptionally well trained..would be fun to watch Russia get beat into submission on two separate fronts by two smaller countries.

Hope you guys realize countries like China, Venezuela,, Cuba and Somalia are currently part of this council. Not sure what the celebration is all about.
First time a country has been suspended from the council if I am not mistaken. While generally a meaningless gesture, and the fact that, as you clearly stated, China, Venezuela, Cuba, and Somalia are still on it just goes to show the next level pariah status Putin has gained for his trailer trash country over a little "special operation" that was only to last 2 weeks..
