War in Ukraine

It took us almost a month to take Baghdad so I don't know why anyone is surprised that Russia hasn't been able to take Kiev in 3 weeks.

Kyiv is only 60 miles South of Belarus where Russia launched its attack.

Putin planned on taking Kyiv within 2 days. In fact, Zelensky stated publicly on the 2nd night (paraphrasing) "This may be the last time you see me".

Russia's military has been PUMMELED by Ukraine. Virtually every presumption, plan and action has proven wrong and failed.

Putin thought Russia's military could capture Kyiv in 2 days, but it still hasn't in 20

Indeed.

If there is a win even remaining on the table for him, I’d like some to explain it to me. Cause I don’t see it.

Even taking Ukraine, you are now an international outcast and your best friend, China, realizes you are incompetent.

There is no international win for Putin. The only win left on the table for him now it to take Ukraine and remain in power.

No the question is what we could do. I think Russia has attempted to keep some of it's more sophisticated equipment in reserve in case there were reprisals from the west. But there is little doubt our conventional weapons and our military is better equipped, better trained and more experienced. In terms of nuclear we are fairly evenly equiped but even a fraction of our arsenals would mean lights out for earth.
What we could do is a topic that should have been answered by now. If we thought we had a significant tactical advantage, we would have acted by now.

Whether the US has the better conventional equipment and armaments isn't really the debate. Again, let me say this one more time... is it a significant enough advantage to withstand a Russian response? The answer is to this point a "no".

So now their only hope is to create a false flag and maybe pull a few more people off the fence to their side, but even then, it is clear that the US wants to lead from behind and put a battery in the backs of these European nations to go fight Russia. And in general, I'm in agreement that this is a European issue for them to resolve. But the problem is the US is agitating and escalating and then hiding behind the Poles and the Germans. No different than a Karen talking s^^t and kicking sand on the body builder on the beach and then she runs over to her husband to defend her. Or even worse, the husband (the US) doing that and then he runs behind his wife (Poland and Germany).

No doubt the US would kick Russia's ass in a war, but the nuclear and China wild cards make it a huge deterrent.

Yes, Putin way overestimated his capability. I think that has been established.

Russia looks like the stereotypical high school bully from any teenage coming of age movie that shoves everyone around until the little guy has had enough and drops him like an empty beer can in front of the whole school.

This has to be humiliating for Putin. The fact that he has to ask beg for help would be absolutely hilarious if he weren't leveling the country with artillery.

The US would crush Russia on the ground and the sea. The only thing saving Russia right now is their nuclear arsenal
That is enough... or should be enough for the people on our side to be more cautious then. Don't be provocative and try to escalate. Find a diplomatic solution instead of making bluffs and threats that they have no intentions of really carrying out. That is unnecessary madness that places humanity at risk.

Laughable. You take hints of truth and then mix them in an ocean of western misinformation and propaganda. Well done.

Heh. True.

I'm afraid this war will get even uglier in the near term. No way Putin will back down. Instead he's gonna amp it up and basically direct his troops to Burn It All. God help us if he's insane enough to use tactical nukes.

Hopefully, the off ramp is the FSB helping Vlad find a good pair of cement shoes.

And Russia isn't using the shock and awe air campaign to lead things off before ground troops were moved in. They did the exact opposite of what the US would have done. Our philosophy is to minimize troop casualties at the expense of civilian casualties (collateral damage) because the leaders here know we can't stomach a high casualty count. In Russia, not so much.

Yes, Putin way overestimated his capability. I think that has been established.

He overestimated being able to sway Ukrainian leaders/military to lay down their weapons, the Ukrainian's resolve to resist and the power of Western propaganda. Russia is still achieving their goals and making advances, just slower than they wanted.

How is that hints of truth? It's been three weeks and they still haven't come anywhere close to achieving their goal. That's an objective truth.

Ouch.... I thought the rest of the world was supposed to respect us again....

That video got really good at about the 3:00 mark when little Ms. Hottie appeared. I've never been so enthralled with an explanation of simple economics and inflationary forces.

You mean like Russia has been agitating Ukraine for centuries?
Possibly. What is your point? You make it sound like a long standing regional conflict. Let's say you are correct. What does that have to do with the United States of America? What does that have to do with Main Street America?

Slower than they wanted is an understatement. They like me thought it would be over in a week.
