Rick Barnes discussion (merged)

Nope. Last SEC Tournament we won was in 1979.

Well done, Tennessee!! And well done Barnes!!!

Very few older coaches can identify a shift in their sport and adapt. Barnes looks like he has adapted his style and approach to the new attitude of the kids. I am very pleasantly surprised.

No good reason for a UT fan not to be Barnes supporter. He wins at a high level, runs a clean program, has an SEC regular season title, and has now been to 3 SEC tourney championship games in 6 chances and won the title for the first time since 1979. Just my opinion, but I don’t need our coach to wear an orange blazer, paint his body orange, or belittle opposing teams or coaches in order to think he is a real UT coach.

Love coach Barnes and he can coach as long as he wants here, but he's a sweet 16 coach. Looking pretty good and giving us hope only to look like crap on offense and underachieve when it matters. New team, same old song.

Ima pile on too.....

Barnes is an average coach. His record ( 1 Final 4 appearance in 33 years) speaks for itself. How many teams in the SEC do you think would like to trade coaches with us?

These were the days...Stephen, I mean 1985, b*tching about regular season Q1 losses after gaslighting everyone about how the regular season doesn't matter.

Hi Stephen...any comment on CRB's 'ship which, by your own words, makes him a great coach? And, please remind me, how did the great Bruce Pearl do in this tourney?
Idk the context of his comments but despite the crazy stay that UT hasn't won the tourney in 43 years... sorry I don't get the hype of getting hot for a few games and winning a tourney at the end of the year. Bad or avg teams win it all the time. Tenn didn't win the reg season which is way more telling to me. I promise I'm not trying to minimize the tourney win. It wasn't random-UT is playing some great ball right now.

TN wins the regular season had Auburn played as difficult of a schedule. Was that part of the way more telling for you?

So what does ending up 1 game behind a team we beat head to head and played a weaker schedule than us tell you?

The goal posts just keep moving by the Barnes haters. Quite sad, actually.

At least the last 12 SECT have been won by teams that were tied for 4th or higher in the regular season. So, bad or average teams don’t win it all if the time. Plus, going to a Final Four is about teams getting hot at the right time, just like in a conference tournament. Silliness.

How is it telling? What is it telling?
Seriously

Tennessee did finish the regular season 2nd. They beat Auburn which was 1 game ahead.

Auburn played Tennessee once, they played KY once, they played Ark once, they played LSU once…….the best teams in the SEC they only had to face once.

Tennessee played LSU twice, KY twice, Ark twice and Auburn once.

That’s actually “telling” when you win the league by 1 game.

Tennessee came in second in the toughest conference in the country and Auburn won by default because they had the easiest schedule of the top 4 teams

If 14-4 in SEC play is “telling” to you. Then you are problem not Barnes
