I grew up admiring Nolan Richardson’s 40 Minutes of Hell. Imo, a good press can screw up good half court offenses. Tennessee has a great half court offense. They move the ball around and know how and where to find the open man. The press creates imbalance to that set offense, chews up shot clock and creates disarray. Their biggest flaw against the press, again imo, is simply inbounding the ball. When they do inbound, they’re typically already in a corner. In trouble before there even start like that
Perhaps I am a negavol because I’m neutral to Memphis and have no ill will against Penny. I think Kelvin Sampson is total scum fwiw, so you can guess who I’m cheering for in that game
Growing up a Vol in Memphis I hated Memphis State and rooted against them most of the time. Exceptions were when Dockery was the football coach, Larry Finch was the basketball coach and when Penny played. I have always been a Penny fan.
I still call them this hahahaGrowing up a Vol in Memphis I hated Memphis State and rooted against them most of the time. Exceptions were when Dockery was the football coach, Larry Finch was the basketball coach and when Penny played. I have always been a Penny fan.
Mainly because Memphis State University (or <nearly anything> State University) is generally perceived as a directional. They are University of Memphis now, and they know that “Memphis State” is generally used as mockery now. They’re wearing Memphis State jerseys right now. Why do some alums not like it?
Then why are they still wearing it on uniforms? Serious questionMainly because Memphis State University (or <nearly anything> State University) is generally perceived as a directional. They are University of Memphis now, and they know that “Memphis State” is generally used as mockery now.
Of course, I still call them Tiger High, so there’s that.
Do you think Michigan State, Arizona State, Mississippi State, Florida State all feel they’re directional little brother schools?Mainly because Memphis State University (or <nearly anything> State University) is generally perceived as a directional.
