JG and short passes were never actually a thing. His ADOT was 10-11+ in his career. It was definitely a myth though on here, for what reason I could never understand. Other than people remembering what they want and ignoring real data.

Not saying you, it's been too long ofc at this point, but the myth spread and continued.

I even did a post on in it after his 2018 season, he was top half of the SEC at every 10+ depth of passing (attempt rate)...and this was at the peak of the "dink and dunk" posts:

I was thinking more about when Butch was here. They used a lot of screens and short passes. He threw very few INTs then, but got worse later under Pruitt.

Saw an interesting stat on the MLB the other day. The average MLB viewer is now 57 years old. It's had declining popularity for years. Average age is low 40s for soccer and NBA. 49 for NHL.

One just has to wonder how long before the MLB goes from tied for 2nd/3rd with the NBA to possibly the 4th sport in the U.S. Is there any hope for it as far as a resurgence goes? Just doesn't seem to have the kids' eyes like with past generations. I find it a little sad, except UT Baseball's surging popularity is more than enough consolation for just myself.

It will probably take time. I'd say 15-20 years. But it does seem the trend...hell, at this point it might be an e-sport to overtake it and not even soccer or hockey or UFC.
Baseball is very popular with kids…. Travel baseball is growing bigger and bigger every day…. Baseball needs to follow the lead of the NBA and start really marketing their stars and relax their social media/blackout restrictions….. get it out there as much as possible.

I highly agree with both. I hardly watch any NBA or MLB, but easily know 10x more NBA stars. I'd also say the average know-nothing can still name 2-3 NBA stars. If I asked my wife to name a current MLB player she'd probably say A-Rod, if not Roger Clemens lol.

The sport used to have baseball cards as its "thing". Even that has died off. And the NFT market is mostly NBA. Baseball jerseys are extremely awkward looking with regular clothes on top of it (I guess all jerseys are, but just moreso). There must be something niche to popularize, who knows.
MLB literally came out and said Mike Trout needed to market hisself….. they are clueless.

He wasn't bad early, but was mostly short passes. His INTs jumped considerably later.

He's got a million dollar arm but doesn't have the mind to use it well.

Short passes? Let’s see.

Tee Martin 1998 Y/A: 8.1
Tyler Bray 2012 Y/A: 8.0
Heath Shuler 1993 Y/A: 8.3
Casey Clausen 2001 Y/A: 8.4
Erik Ainge 2006 Y/A: 8.6
Josh Dobbs 2016 Y/A: 8.3
Andy Kelly 1989 Y/A: 8.3
JG 2019 Y/A: 8.4

Guess we have had a long line of QBs who made their careers out of short passes.

Oh sure. He only started 1 year under Butch and was not good. He was also sacked 5 times per game. That was a year to be forgotten...

Hi everyone, I wanted to give an update on your little man. He made it to Vanderbilt’s Childrens Hospital safely yesterday. His surgery for coarctation of aorta was supposed to be today but got canceled and now we don’t know when his surgery will be. It’s been incredibly difficult and even more now that we still don’t know when he will get taken care of. If you guys could continue the prayers we would greatly appreciate it
Prayers sent
