Well you just said the key. I'm sure MacAuthur would have had something to say about Japan and The Philippines. I think most, the furthest that it could have gotten in the Pacific was The Soviets getting back Port Arthur, and that might have been a stretch.

That's too yesterday. Putin has upped the game it seems. We could ship Mexican drugs to Russia in return for weapons to sell as a second line when ours are too expensive, and enslave/indenture border jumpers to build a pipeline to the US to get us cut rate Mexican petroleum. Fences and good neighbors as foreign policy apparently doesn't work according to our dems and now the Russians.

Had MacArthur allowed himself to be cowed by Truman who did continue the FDR policy of being bent over by Stalin he wouldn’t have been in position to thwart Soviet expansion.

Truman was worse than Jimmy Carter and both were post turtles when it came to foreign policy.

The West convinced the Ukrainian leadership to ignore the 2015 Minsk II agreements and instead reassured them that if the time would come, Europe and the US would stand behind them. Well, this is what they get for their faith in the West. Broken or half promises. The pathway for a diplomatic solution was there. All the West did was arm them with sanctions, Warsaw Pact Era weapons, and more empty promises.

The vast majority of Russians parents suffered. Every generation get a little weaker then the one before with success and an easy way of life. We are at least two to three generations ahead in the soft game.

The sad truth is that today the consumer has little choice except to buy what's on the market. Maybe the consumers had some choice in the past, but that's largely been taken away by corporations at this point. I think we'd have to agree the consumer is largely a slave in a market decided by what marketers push and CEOs have agreed to build elsewhere. US labor didn't help by pricing itself out of business; apparently nobody on the labor side really understood that our labor was in competition with foreign labor plus the cost of shipping and manufacturing overseas - or they didn't count on politicians turning globalist on them.

We are a victim of a society living in the short term and can't be bothered with long term analysis; otherwise we might have figured out that we were selling out to a future enemy and building his military that we'll probably face again one day. We've fought the Chinese in Korea and Vietnam (more indirectly), and we should have figured out they aren't our buddies.

You can't buy what corporations don't make. If you need something and all those somethings are made in China, you can't vote with your pocketbook. Consumers have no way to vote a CEO out of office. We have a two tiered business structure - one of products and markets and the other of markets (of the stock kind) and investment profits. The stock type market is the tail shaking the dog - it's out of control. The stopper might be that corporate officers and family cannot own stock and essentially vote for short term policies that line their pockets - it is a conflict of interest after all - their short term profit vs the country's long term well being. Nationalism has to win over globalism or we are sunk.

In your opinion. When it comes to idiots, I think there's more of an equivalency than partisans want to admit. Too many sheep just looking to follow without question on both sides. We'd be better off without political parties. Imagine if Senators and Congress people just did what they were supposed to do, which is represent their constituents, not a political party?
