‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

Mom loved Oregon, but she hasn’t seen Tennessee yet. Mom needs to love the situation and be willing to relocate there, but that’s no small task since she’s got stage 4 breast cancer.
True, but no more different than going from socal to oregon. Hopefully it's warm. At least the warm weather might help over Oregon. And of course our offense...they don't even quite know yet what Oregon's offense will look like...

I’m not a anti Heupel mafia member either… just throwing it out there. Hopefully we can get the kid. Or one of the other two mentioned. Need the recruiting momentum they would bring

Would agree it will apper to be a huge failure at first, and dont get me wrong I'll be disappionted with everyone, but with QB and Heupel it's way too early to decide if it's a huge failure or not. What he got out of Hooker and QBs in his past gives me a ton of confidence that he can get elite play out of any QB with talent so whoever we get, if Heupel wants him, I like the chances of him performing... but I obviously want to see him paired with as talented a QB prospect as possible to see what that looks like.

Very true!

My only concern of Eugene vs Knoxville is I have no idea what Breast Cancer treatment facilities and options look like in each city and don't know where that ranks in their priority or where she is in her recovery/treatment, but would completely understand choosing a place that provides her the best options.

With football only - we're a no brainer IMO. Our offense is made to win him a Heisman.

Eugene has very temperate weather. It rains a lot in the winter but stays in the 60s pretty much all the time and the spring/summer/fall is very nice. As much as I love East TN its tough to beat Eugene in terms of weather.

I would say that the typical NFL fan would consider about 8-14 successful QBs in the league at any given time. These QBs are going to be drafted over more than a 10 year period. College coaches have little impact on the success of their QBs in the pros. They can sell getting them into the league and getting them paid, but the rest has more to do with situation they get drafted in to.
I didn't say they did. The point was showing the invalidity of saying he won't go to a school bc they don't have successful NFL QBs and suggest they will go to another school with that

I'm sure that top of the line treatment will be part of any NIL deal

Yes but then you're in a City/area named Eugene.

No thanks.

Yep, agree. He may end up there, but Fong is going out on a limb trying to play the odds. Like @allvolrecruiting said, this weekend is going to be HUGE for us and Nico, and I expect Tennessee to have a very good view on where we stand when the family leaves. Do I think he commits while here? No, not at all. But I think they will know enough to know whether or not to pivot elsewhere almost immediately or to otherwise keep putting on more steam.
Fong has a pretty strong track record, he's one of 247's most reliable guys. It's not much of a surprise, Oregon is 125-42 since we fired Fulmer. We are 80-81 The only people in the country that think we should be more likely to win that recruiting battle are Tennessee fans. Doesn't mean we are doomed if he doesn't come here, just that the road back isn't as short as we hope sometimes.

Oh for sure, he's really good. Just saying that until Nico visits here with his entire family - which as we all know is happening this weekend - anything now is purely speculative.

Hopefully Nico will remember that Chip Kelly isn't coaching at Oregon anymore. Lanning may end up being great for them, but he's never been a head coach before.

Josh Heupel has put 4 QBs in the league
That's great, but many of these top kids believe they can get there with most any coach. These programs we are competing with have put QBs in the NFL, too. Only a select few kids are going to pick Tennessee solely because of coaching with zero regard for recent program success and NCAA volatility.

Massive failure by Heupel and this staff if they can’t land one of Nico/Moore/Vizzina

No. The only thing that matters is QB play in actual games. When Heupel fails to secure and develop a QB that puts up big points, that will be a massive failure. Hooker was a guy who couldn't keep the starting job at a mid-tier ACC team. We did just fine.
