War in Ukraine

Some 137 Ukrainians, a mixture of soldiers and civilians, died Thursday. Britain's Defense Secretary told his country's media Friday that Russia has lost about 450 military personnel.

Sorry to sound cynical, but that's a really good ratio right there if accurate. If Russia gets bogged down in a protracted guerilla warfare situation, there will be the ashes of scores of dead 20 year-olds being shipped back in boxes to mother Russia.

It's probably not quite accurate, but if it's even close then this will help make this war much more unpopular in Russia.

The Russians aren't fighting middle easterners here, they are fighting other Europeans.

He knows Harris is weak, that's what he's saying. Putin doesn't attack if Trump is in office
That doesn't make any sense. Vladimir Putin orchestrated a massive cyber-attack against American businesses in December of 2020, and what was Donald Trump's response to it?

Trump publicly sided with Putin's denial, even though his own Secretary of State had announced that Russia was conclusively responsible for the attack.

If Trump wanted to bash Biden and Harris? Great.

Trump did not have to describe Putin's justification for this latest act of Russian aggression, as being "genius", and he did not have to describe Putin himself, as being "savvy," in order to criticize the Biden administration.

Ukrainians reportedly wiped out the entire company of Russian special forces that tried to secure the main airport near Kyiv yesterday. They arrived on roughly 30 helicopters. Again, if true, kudos Ukrainians. The Russians will no doubt be back, but if I'm Zelensky, I've got that place surrounded by defenders with Stingers.

The Battle of Antonov Airport, also known as the Battle of Hostomel Airport, was an engagement that took place on 24 February 2022, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Over 30 Russian helicopters landed Russian airborne troops to secure Antonov Airport in Hostomel, a suburb of Kyiv, in an attempt to create an airbridge in which troops and equipment could arrive less than 10 kilometers from Kyiv. Russian forces initially captured the airport after 3 hours of fighting, but a Ukrainian counteroffensive by the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade of the National Guard ensued, in which the defending Russian airborne troops were encircled at the airport and destroyed.[4][5][6][7]

As of 24 February 2022, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world's largest airplane, which was at the airport at the time of the invasion, was confirmed to be intact.

I would bet there are some United States marines who would challenge this opinion of yours.
Of course your correct there are some super tough American individuals but this premise that as a collective peoples we’ve become soft compared to a place like the Ukrainian peoples is pretty hard to dispute.

We don't live under the same hostile threat that countries like Israel and the Ukraine live under.... but I would not describe us as soft. We are supremely secure. That shouldn't be mistaken for softness.

Which countries are the least likely to ever face a military invasion from a foreign country?

The United States and China, right? Can you imagine how ugly that would get in a hurry?

They don't want to talk about how Trump publicly sided with Putin over Mike Pompeo concerning Russian involvement in the massive cyber-attack against American businesses in December of 2020.

That is obvious.

It establishes a pattern of behavior on Trump's part. Trump has a history of becoming oddly defensive, whenever an allegation of a cyber-attack is made against Russia. If the conservatives/ Republicans/ Trump supporters on here were capable of being honest with themselves about Trump, they would be able to admit that.
The same guy that was trying to squash the pipeline? The same guy who constantly shat on Europe for falling into Russians hands?

20 years of combat and you still all those vets are soft. You think the civilians that love their homeland, freedoms and want their kids to have the same freedom are soft? Riiiiiiiight

As much as I would like that ratio (137:450) there is no way that is remotely accurate. Russia is dropping bombs and missiles on people and buildings and yet only 137 Ukrainians dead? While they obliterated Ukraine's air defense almost immediately and the main ground force of Russians hasnt even hit and they lost 450 already? how? vodka poisoning? But they are still widely expecting Kyiv to probably fall over the weekend.

I get the whole heroic resistance propaganda but please, just the facts.

I have never called Trump a dictator. I have said that he is an apologist for Vladimir Putin, and that he is sympathetic to Russian acts of aggression. Trump has done NOTHING to dispel those beliefs this week. To the contrary, he has once again heaped lavish praise upon Putin at a very odd time.

Once again, I will remind everyone about the fact that Trump publicly sided with Vladimir Putin's denial of Russian involvement in the massive cyber attack against American businesses in December of 2020, against the conclusion of his own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. Indeed, one of Trump's final acts as President of the United States was to carry water for Vladimir Putin. He is doing it again.

And I will remind that our letter agencies sided with Russian, foreign, and opposition propaganda to stab him in the back while candidate and president. They lied numerous times to obtain FISA warrants. And even when they knew it was garbage in Jan 2017, made the decision for a search and destroy junket to get someone to divulge something, anything, they might use against him. Including two impeachments by a radical House. They guy truthfully proclaimed his innocence for 4 years and these bastards/bit#hes gave not a single shite for the damage they were causing.

There is no reason for Trump - or any American - to believe anything our spooks, DOJ, and federal LEOs say.
That said, Trump should have trusted Pompeo who was an excellent SOS, that literally has no peer in Biden's WH. That's the only fair criticism of him in that instance.

You get 1/2 point, non-redeemable for case or prizes.
