Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

My dad's whole life has been spent dealing with viruses in livestock herds, and he was asking all along why the only marker for natural immunity that anyone is using is "antibodies".
It's seriously like most people had a stroke in March 2020 and forgot everything they already knew.

I don't think people forgot, I think they were bribed, coerced, and threatened into a narrative. Especially looking at how a lot of the "studies" for this stuff are coming out of one place, and seeing how the ones that go against the narrative get buried.

An excerpt from the 2nd link I’d hate for @EasternVol to miss

A document published by the World Health Organisation in 2019 framed the results of these studies in no uncertain terms: “there was no evidence that face masks are effective in reducing transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza”. It’s unsurprising, then, that when the CDC briefed reporters on the pandemic in February of 2020, masking was not even mentioned among the NPIs that might be deployed. The UK government, too, stated early in 2020 that there was no evidence to support masking.

After the CDC and other agencies revised their guidance in April 2020, Dr. Anthony Fauci, by then a staunch advocate of masks, claimed that he and other officials had discouraged the public from obtaining masks to ensure there were adequate supplies for health care workers. Ever since, promoters of masking have cited Fauci’s “noble lie” to account for the abrupt reversal of prior guidance. But as Miller notes, it was not just during the early months of the pandemic that officials said masks were ineffective. They had said so for years, and Fauci had advised against masks not just in public statements but in private emails in early 2020

Masks to a great extent probably were a waste of time - but for the wrong reason. A lot of people have been wearing worthless masks that were improperly used even if they'd been effective. Some of that was availability of effective masks/respirators, and virtually all of that was because of a complete failure of education by the people who should have been informing the public. Remember the government itself told people to wear worthless cloth masks because the good stuff was too scarce and had to be reserved for hospital use. It's basically the "you have one chance to make a first impression" thing; all masks are essentially considered by a huge part of the population to be the same and ineffective. Masks are such a generic term that for the most part they simply include respirators to most people.

I guess Greer gets his data the same place Sotomayor shops for her’s.
Hey, you and kiddiedoc keep your eyes peeled, because pissed off parents just took it up several notches and ousted one of the parents involved in the lawsuit. They’ve confirmed it. This is about to get real ugly.

What do you mean ouster? How did they do that?

Someone found an instagram photo with Gloria Johnson and 4 other women from around Christmas huddled together not wearing masks. Everyone in the photo was identified, and one of them has initials that match up with initials from the lawsuit. This person also was in a news story last year showing her disabled daughter and explaining why she was pulling her from school. They’ve flat given out her name and talked about where she works. She’s a sicko.

They’ve made way too many parents mad.

I hope you’re right but people being mad doesn’t fix a judge’s ruling.

I'm glad you read that and had the same response I did. I don't even know what to say about that comment.

I finally went back and read (scanned mostly) that article. All the "mays" and "coulds" made me thing of modern day alchemy and why after a taste I steered clear of all things related to biology and most related to chemistry. At least a lot of physics, metallurgy, and most engineering is actually based on reproducible fact rather than morphing "lifeforms" that nobody seems to understand but where theory abounds.

I’d be curious in going through that data more. What % of the general population is critically low especially this time of year?
From an ICU perspective. We see people who don’t get outside, don’t eat properly and are overall nutritionally deficient.
Tbh I’ve never seen this many people just so unhealthy. Seems like every pt comes in with low albumin, low globulins and low vitamin D.
On a personal level I have a daughter with hoshimotos thyroiditis and takes vitamin D daily. She just tested positive for covid this week. Mild symptoms and is getting better.
People need to get outside while the sun is shining and enjoy it. Stop using drive throughs for nutrition.

Glad to hear she’s getting better. I do realize vitamin D places a role in both immune function and risk of respiratory illness, so I know there’s a plausible causation.

But I also know a lot of covid deaths are nursing homes and people over 85. Obviously the sicker and older you are, the more likely you have low vitamin D.

It would be interesting to see more studies on the link

It is one of the vitamins along with B complex and C I took with covid. I also took zinc and selenium along with anticoagulating myself. I believe it kept me out of the hospital.
I continue that regimen along with eating better.
The things that should be forefront of prevention of disease with the cdc have been pushed aside and not spoken about much. Good nutrition, exercise and getting outdoors. I believe lockdowns set up the perfect storm for covid to continue the spread.
