I don’t think people are ignoring the context of prevailing opinions at the time, they’re just realizing that the information we have NOW has shown many of those opinions to be incorrect and are rightfully questioning why we are continuing down a path that is proving to exacerbate the problem.

I can see that. But the issue is that there seems to be no agreement on "the information we have NOW".
Just look at the vaccine....Is it effective? We have some saying absolutely not, we have some emphatically saying yes, and we have some in between the two extremes. Not being able to agree on what should be accepted facts is an issue that is only getting worse.

Thankfully, the worst case scenarios never materialized, but had they, I don't believe anyone would be moaning about overreaction but you would be bitching about not doing enough.

The first month or so (March 2020), my partner quit suddenly, I was scared of bringing something home and it killing my wife or kids, and I had terrible anxiety walking into sick patients' rooms. However, it became very quickly apparent that serious illness in children was exceedingly uncommon, that the upheaval in life/school/etc was much more dangerous for them, and that healthy, relatively young adults had a very low probability of a poor outcome.

By witnessing the "waves" head on, following the actual research (not watching the "news"), and looking at data, it also became very obvious that masks weren't doing squat, mandates are not warranted, early/inexpensive treatments can be quite effective, and now that "vaccination" is not the final solution.

Remember that just 6 months ago, after the CDC admitted that the shots didn't keep you from getting or spreading CV, we were told that you should still get the shot to prevent new variants. Here we are now with a new variant anyway that is spreading like wildfire in countries with the highest shot + booster rates. Oh, and Fauci himself saying that the virus can not be eradicated and will continue to mutate (like all other viruses).

Just talked to a vendor of mine who told me he got his 4th shot 3 days ago. I told him I didn’t even know the US had approved a 4th shot. He pulled out of their customer trip to Mexico in a few weeks, despite having 4 shots! I told him at this rate I’ll be at the resort by myself the way everyone is pulling out.

Great things have been happening in my life purely because many other people have been so afraid! I think that's a win.

I believe most people were comfortable with two weeks to a month of slowing down and understanding what was going on. Nobody is truly against being wise about illness.

But when the first waves started rocking the narrative (remember that UK study that led to worldwide shutdowns yet was running on a totally busted algorithm... or the deliberate hiding of the spread rate... and the rampant reporting of "presumptive" cases... etc. etc.) people started getting tired.

The data has fleshed out exactly how the "anti-science" people said it would.

Pretty sure 4th shots are only available to immunocompromised people. If that's the case then Mexico might not be the place for you to start with.

I made the logical assumption that he was right wing, not based on his COVID positions which I know absolutely nothing about, but based on the posters in the PF who were defending him.
By the way, I also know nothing about Bill Maher's positions on COVID, nor do I really care. Why would anyone care about either Rogan's or Maher's positions? The scary thing is the number of people who do evidently care what their positions are.

I made the logical assumption that he was right wing, not based on his COVID positions which I know absolutely nothing about, but based on the posters in the PF who were defending him.
By the way, I also know nothing about Bill Maher's positions on COVID, nor do I really care. Why would anyone care about either Rogan's or Maher's positions? The scary thing is the number of people who do evidently care what their positions are.
