The Supreme Court of the United States Thread

That is fair criticism of me. I admit that I've been hypocritical when it comes to that.

You always show up in the emotional or subjective threads. Basically you build straw man arguments you can slay. You seem to never post in the more objective performance based threads. True straw man.

Just go ahead and pick Harris, put Hilliary as the VP. Resign and call it "health issues" move Ted Lieu over to open VP slot now because we need more Asian male leadership. Have a Native American not named Warren on standby.

Potato Head is speaking now on what he's gonna be doing about Breyer's replacement.

He's gonna nominate first black woman to the court ....

I wonder if she'll be using any Ebonics while being on the SC?
So you believe all black people use Ebonics or just black women? Are you unable to understand black people can be educated in this day and age?

That would be a great plan.

Replacing a liberal with a liberal is a wash so might as well use the situation to "set an example" of how it should work. The Rs need to act like adults and be smart about this.
Sure, because “acting like adults” for the last 40 years has already produced such responsible behavior form the Democrats, right? 😂😂😂😂
You cannot teach someone who refuses to learn.

The Rs haven't acted like adults over the past 40 years. They have tried to out Dem the Democrats every damn time they get a majority and shoot themselves in the foot.

What good is it going to do to block Biden's nominee? Whoever Biden nominates will be an unmitigated embarrassment and disaster so let the dems own it, doesn't change the makeup of the court.

Heard a black commentator opining about the announcement you plan to hire a "insert minority". His point was just do it without the pre announcement. The pre announcement in effect tells the world the pool was considerably smaller; you are the best of this subset of candidates vs no pre announcement that you are the best of the total set of candidates. It adds the label of Affirmative Action hire which results in questioning if the chosen was really chosen for qualifications. He called it polite racism.

Makes sense to me.
100%. PR 101

After looking like hypocrites for not allowing a vote on Merrick Garland in 2016, supposedly because it was an election year, but then rushing through the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett just ahead of the 2020 election, it would be politically unwise for Republicans to try and stall the confirmation of Biden's pick. Poll after poll shows that the American people do not want the Supreme Court to be dominated by either the conservative or the liberal ideology. Americans want a healthy mix of ideals on their highest court.

It amazes me that some of you think that Republicans have a moral high ground to stand on when it comes to handling a Supreme Court nomination from the opposing party. After blocking Garland from even getting a vote, but then rushing through Barrett? They don't have any room to complain here... and of all battles to pick, why pick one that is just a "wash" anyway (as @hog88 ) said? Democrats will simply be replacing one liberal with another. It doesn't change the composition of the court - a court where the conservatives will still hold the majority anyway.

Oh I agree about the general stupidity of white libs regarding ID. I'm referring to the above and beyond ebonics reference.

Basically calling it like it is. Polite racism is a great explanation to what it is. Whoever is selected will viewed for color and not qualifications. There will be no more, “you can be anything you want to be as long as you work hard.”
