But we have no foreign policy experts - just opinionated oafs. We have no real foreign policy - just kneejerk reaction that changes every 4 or 8 years - and generally often in between those inflection points. Experts would be a blend of intelligence expert and statesman, and our bureaucracies, including State, are simply people selected to provide the desired answer. Still Kennedy and Johnson botched a needless war using the "best and brightest" that ivy league academia could provide - followed by Nixon's Kissinger, so maybe oafs aren't so bad after all.
