Anyone notice how weird our schedule is next year?

Really? So you think we can beat UF and LSU?
Kentucky will not be an automatic win either. I also expect South Carolina and Mizzou to be much more prepared for Heupel's offense this time around. Pitt is also on the road. None of those 4 will be easy wins. I really don't understand the sudden overconfidence from many in this fanbase.

Our easiest SEC games all come at the end of the season when injuries have set in

While your assumptions may have been correct in other seasons, perhaps this VN fan has another viable perspective or two on this comment:
1. It is possible that we miss the mid season wave of injuries that have plagued us in the past
2. Or, perhaps our opponents also have as many injuries as us?

We also need to all keep in mind that another variant or three of Covid could emerge and wipe out the whole season. Wait, that is negative thinking, right? Sorry, erase that thought - gonna stay positive this year. WAIT, no, I am not COVID or HIV positive - so gonna stay optimistic this year. Is that PC?

I think 7-9 is a good window. 8 or 9 being most likely. 10+ and Heupel has beaten everyone with equal talent and a couple with more talent and he's likely worked a miracle on defense. Below 7 would be a step back that I'd rather not see.

Me either to be honest. I think our OL will be worse than last year. I doubt Hooker puts up comparable stats this year. I have been saying that SC is going to be a tough game. People keep going on about Rattler, but they seem to forget he was the preseason Heisman winner. The guy is ultra talented and maybe under Beamer he changes his attitude. If he does, we are in big trouble imo.

I think we go 7-5 again. Which is fine by me. But these people thinking they see 10 wins on our schedule obviously don’t know much about our team. We are going to be bad again on defense. And unfortunately I think our offense takes a step back.

I am seeing a lot of transfers committing to programs that don't wear God's orange. Apparently our NIL deals just aren't up to snuff.

Consistent under confidence ring truer to you?

Our first four games, 2 scrubs and 2 P5’s, including opening SEC play Florida. None of this is unusual.

Ball State
Pitt
Akron
Florida

Then we get a really early bye week, week 5.

Then we go straight to our 2 west opponents back to back, LSU and Bama, then we randomly get another mid-season scrub (UT Martin).

LSU
Bama
UT Martin

After all that, then we finally start playing the rest of the East.

Kentucky
Georgia
Mizzou
South Carolina
Vandy

So in the first 8 weeks, we play one opponent from our division, then play all the rest of them in our last 5 weeks. Our final scrub game is October 22nd, and we get a really early bye. Probably the weirdest schedule I’ve seen in a long time, but honestly, I don’t love the way it’s laid out. Our easiest SEC games all come at the end of the season when injuries have set in.
This is all due to Auburn crying about playing GA and Bama back to back every year. Auburn now plays GA when we use to play them in early Oct. SEC swapped our GA game early Oct with our traditional 2nd SEC west in Nov to Appease Auburn.

Part of the problem with our defense is our offense though and it's speed which results in the defense being on the field alot. It's sort of baked into the Heupel system that we are going to have to score alot of points so that our defense can be less than perfect as long as they get some takeaways. It gives us the potential for upsets of people but how sustainable it is as a championship formula remains to be seen. Regardless, it is an exciting brand of football, which is what people asked for, and a considerable improvement over Beldar Ball.

If the defense will cause a turnover in the first couple of plays per series? They would get more rest.

We'll be lucky to reach 8 wins unless we get some serious defensive help in the portal between now and fall camp.
I agree we need help on D in the portal that much nobody can disregard BUT as it was proved this year if our offense will stop taking a nap in the 2nd quarter then 10 wins are possible. Our offense allows our defense a margin of error that will not take a lot to overcome. The continued progress on offense and 1 to 3 drives better on defense and we will be fine jmo.

I actually think that’s one of the best schedules we’ve had in a while as far as overall layout goes…
