I have no problem with employers requiring things of their employees such as vaccines...but I don't want gov't mandating it. If the Mayo funding was tied to this then this is the heavy hand of gov't mandating this

Mayo doesn’t have to take the federal money if they don’t want to. That’s not their only source of income. I have no issues with the government putting restrictions on the money they spend as long as they apply it equally. If Mayo doesn’t like being told what they have to do to receive money then they should charge their business model.
There is a huge difference between you have to vaccinate to receive money (no problem) and you have to vaccinate to do business (big problem).

I don’t want anyone telling me what to do so I’ve structured my business in a way that I can tell anyone at any given time to F off. Everyone has the same opportunity I do.

If your business has over 100 employees you have no choice. You have to fire unvaccinated employees at a certain point. I'm sure Mayo has over 100 employees. If that survives SCOTUS, look for that number to go down.

As for the fed funds, no, it's just a work around the Constitution. I consider it blackmail. Another example of this is the drinking age. That should be a state's right to determine a drinking age. The gov't gets around it by threatening to withhold funds

This entire episode should really cause people to understand just how much fed money is floating around. For instance if your college or university has research positions funded by the USDA congratulations you're a federal contractor and the vaccine is required. Do road construction for the state? That's funded through the feds, get stuck. Regardless of the contract size, if you receive any funds whatsoever from the government you're on the hook. And the contractor mandate includes zero carve outs for testing and requires it even for employees who work at home. I've talked to some people who work at TVA, they think in their generation/linemen units they're at maybe 30-40% vaccinated. What happens if it gets pushed through? Fire half the people running the power plants and fixing the lines? What if even 20% of those guys leave? Plenty of pension eligible people will just ride off into the sunset. You can't just pick new ones up off the street. Is jeopardizing infrastructure worth the stated benefits of a mandate?

That’s not what happened here. We will see on the “if”. I agree a mandate is wrong and unconditional. But taking money from the government means you follow their rules to get the money. You don’t have to take the money so it’s not a mandate. If you grew too big depending on the government then you get what you deserve. I absolutely think the government should not be handing out money to anyone. If the government wants a hospital they should run one. You’re Preaching to the choir on states rights.


It’s amazing to me how people want the government to stay out of their business while depending on the government

Must protect Biden at all costs. These numbers were used against Trump as a weapon. But now that it is clear that Biden's pitiful efforts haven't worked and that there is no way to stop the virus (as most of us have said since the beginning), they have to protect the dems. So now the numbers get out.

After millions of ballots are blindly mailed out for next year's election, the "reporting" will really change. Joe will be a portrayed as a miracle worker by the media. It's tricky timing for the media. Covid must be a major danger to justify mass voting by mail with no ID required but Covid must also appear to get better before the election so Joe can get credit.
