All that said, amongst the dozens of other projects that are taking all my money, I’m wanting to convert the fireplace to gas logs. Google estimations on price for that conversion was confusing.

Done this. Do you have gas to the house now? Are you on a crawl space. If so, not so bad, a nice log set will be expensive. If no to either of the other two, costs escalate quickly.

Crawl space, but no gas to the house currently. It’s just an idea in my head at the moment, but last night certainly had me wishing I had already done it

Can you get an LP system installed? We are on LP here but it is getting pretty expensive per gallon. That would also give you the option for a gas cooktop upgrade too.

I can. That’s where the Google estimations get weird. Some prices don’t seem so bad, some seem astronomical

And you could then get a gas line run to your kitchen for a gas range. When I did that I also had them run a line to the backyard for a grill so I would not have to have tanks. And yes, I still had a charcoal grill that I used often, but gas grills are very convenient.
