Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

500 antimaskers in videos refusing to wear a mask on airplanes when they were told it’s required vs 1 Karen with mental problems is most definitely equal.👍
You do realize that tik tok videos aren’t the only proof of anything out there right? 😂😂 stick to lady Vol soccer. Even though they are mostly unvaccinated too. I’m sure they would love that you called them trash as well

No I don't think you made it up. I think you read the post Septic made early today that mentioned Straw Man.
You jumped on Google to see what the term means and used it as soon as possible.
Good guess, I did notice when Septic used it recently, but I had only learned the meaning of the term only a couple of weeks ago,so you aren’t far off.

From the article you are using as fear porn. Considering how freaking huge the Omicron spike is, the very modest uptick in hospitalizations should be more encouraging than anything. Also, Omicron is now about 90% of the covid cases in the UK, yet 95% of Covid patients on ventilators have delta. And don't forget that many of these Covid "hospitalizations" are "with" Covid, not "from" Covid. Having a runny nose from Omicron while being at the hospital for a broken arm isn't the same as being in the hospital because of your runny nose.

South Africa is probably similar to the US in vaccination status and percentage of population who have immunity from infection. Folks, do not let any politician scare you into thinking Omicron is worth altering your lifestyle for. Live your freaking lives and put this sh*t in the rearview mirror.

Since deaths aren't usually immediate and the "numbers" will lag behind the cases and subsequent hospitalizations i think it's a little premature to claim victory just yet. My hope is that the rumblings of omicron being milder are true - the last thing this country needs is more shutdowns based on hysteria over a "mild" illness. Either way, I feel pretty good about living in FL - it's the wild west down here, living our lives and generally having the same sort of outcomes as those locales that are shutting down and circling the wagons.

You might not be getting the results you want. Over 82% with at least 2 jabs and it looks like their recent/current Covid deaths are primarily happening to the vaxxed population.🤷‍♀️

Not the greatest advertisement for the jabs.🤣

Deaths correspond with hospitalizations and patients who end up on ventilators. In South Africa, almost nobody ended up needing a ventilator and slightly more than that ended up needing oxygen. Both were infinitesimal compared to ventilators and oxygenation required during previous variant spikes. Maybe the pattern won't necessarily hold in the UK or the US, but I don't see why it wouldn't follow a similar trajectory to what happened in South Africa.

I find it ironic that areas that shut down schools, apply mask mandates and vax requirements have the same mortality rate that places like FL or TN that just let people live their own life without telling them what to do.

I'm just saying that circling this week as a record number of cases/hospitalizations and circling the same week on another chart showing covid deaths isn't how this works. There's always been a bit of a lag.

The preventative measures make sense on paper (separating people), and yet here we are - it's bizarre and defies logic. Bizarre as it may be, the politicians should be paying attention.

I had a friend visit from Michigan last year where everything was shut down and they were having a HORRIBLE outbreak - she couldn't believe that she could even go out to dinner in Ft Myers. Let alone go out without a mask.

She decided that FL was covering up the hospital/death rates since it was wide TF open down here.

That's not what his favorite politicians are saying so he isn't listening to you.

October 12... that’s like posting something from the 1970’s as fast as the virus data changes.

That's also the nexus event that promulgated the idea that more vaxxed were dying than unvaxxed in the UK. And was swiftly debunked.
