Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

You must feel pretty good about all those Biden 'supporters' then....

Biden still has supporters?

I think people who voted for him are just holding their breath every night that he doesn't show up the news for doing something dumb. Just hoping to get through this...

Even the best-case scenario with omicron will still be bad
Don’t be too reassured yet by the thought that the variant mostly causes mild cases

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/12/21/omicron-mild-cases-numbers/

Excerpt:

But a “mild” case of covid can still make you feel miserable, even bedridden, for days. Huge numbers of “mildly ill” people unable to go to work or school can cause enormous societal disruption, especially while we’re already experiencing labor shortages and supply-chain disruptions. There’s also the risk of long covid, which can cause physical and cognitive issues for many weeks and months after recovery from the acute phase of illness, and which we still don’t understand that well even two years into the pandemic.
And finally, there’s math. Let’s pull a number out of thin air for demonstration’s sake and say that only 2 percent of omicron cases are severe enough to cause hospitalization. Good news, right? Not if omicron also causes exponentially more infections in a condensed time. Two percent of a huge number is a very large number indeed. With hospitals across the U.S. already strained to the breaking point, the implications are frightening.

I hope you realize the hyperbole in that article. Notice their definition of mild? My definition would be asymptomatic, head cold or sniffles. If they start with a hyperbolic definition then the rest of the article isn't worth reading. How many NFL players have had flu like symptoms? Answer: so few that the league is cutting back on testing

You're the biggest advocate on this board for vaccines. You're doing a disservice to that message by posting this left wing crap. Show the board how mild the symptoms are in vaccinated/boosted folks.

Well I would assume so since he allegedly has a 41% approval rating.

This is fantastic news! A very mild variant that will infect everyone quickly and produce long-lasting natural immunity. The pandemic should now end.
Not going to happen. Too much $$$ involved. Plus, those that have taken power are drunk with it and will not want to give it up. The world needs a government enema.

I totally agree, the last bit of my comment was very tongue in cheek. Omicron is the end of the "pandemic" for anyone with critical thinking skills. Therefore, our wannabe authoritarian government officials will triple down on the fear porn.

To borrow an analogy I used in here last week...the head of a public health organization says stuff like that for the same reason Michelin says you should inspect your tires before each time you drive your car.
You’d be surprised at all the medical professions who link everything to covid. It’s causing delays in care.

I know someone who went to the doctor the other day. I kid you not, there was a list of about 35 questions regarding symptoms she had, if you answer yes to any of them you have to get a COVID test before they will even see you. That honestly blew my mind.

South African Doctor Has Good News About Omicron That Decimates New Hysteria

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, one of the first doctors in South Africa to treat patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19, told CNN on Monday they have seen a decrease in COVID cases in the region where the Omicron variant was first detected.

Coetzee further explained while they did see a rise in COVID-19 cases with the Omicron variant they did not see a corresponding rise in hospitalizations or deaths.

“What we currently see is our cases, we are over the curve. It is sort of coming down…The epicenter, the number is much lower…In total, if you look at our numbers, it’s going down. Our positivity rate is still high, around about 30 percent, and the reason is that people go and test. There’s a lot of testing done. Incidentally, since the 9th of December, it seems there are more people going for tests than going to get their vaccines,”

“So our ICU cases, if we look at the cases yesterday, we always look back one day, so the admissions of the 18th of December, across 666 facilities in South Africa was 87. And currently, in all our ICU and all of these, 666 facilities, we currently have 534 in ICU,” Coetzee added, noting not all ICU admissions are related to COVID.South African Doctor Has Good News About Omicron That Decimates New Hysteria

So, another short lived bell curve. I am shocked.
