Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

When I was working I suppose I had the choice to smoke/use tobacco or not smoke/use tobacco. If I chose to not use them I was given a "discount/rebate" on my healthcare. Employers can play some wicked games with benefits when they want to. I almost feel somewhat slimy like Hog in my defense of employers.
I was curious cuz of earlier convos....i guess it all come to where you fall on the political scale...i find libertarians don't want coercion of buisness to protect individual rights, but some here want employers to have unlimited powers even after we have seen coercion from buisness trampling individual rights..all very interesting

I have a distinct hatred of large corporations after having worked for one for over 35 years. They are blood sucking vampires that will destroy an entire community if they can pocket some coin for the brass and stockholders. Trust me, I hate how a lot of businesses are run, and generally it's only to shaft the people that make it run in order to enrich a few. I also understand the economics of corporations and money has to be made for the business to survive at the local level. Healthcare is one large expense and it makes decisions.

I think that article focuses on its safety this one explains its antiviral and ability to halt viral replication.
Current Use of Ivermectin in Dermatology, Tropical Medicine, and COVID-19: An Update on Pharmacology, Uses, Proven and Varied Proposed Mechanistic Action
Just had a wild thought... I wonder if this administration would go so far as to ban Ivermectin or make it a controlled substance in an effort to discourage it from being used as a remedy for COVID?

I saw where there has been ~16M cases in the US in 2021 and we’re around 50M total. The CDC still maintains 4x as many cases are occurring as are being reported. So 200M cases + 200M fully vaxxed= Omicron will kill us all.

Like keeping PhD candidates around another semester. :) I'm just glad one of my dissertation committee was good friends with the irb chair and got my approval through in less than two months.

try being dealing with an IRB set up for a medical school - it's not like I'm injecting people with a survey but it was sure treated that way. To make matters worse we got slapped down for IRB laxness in the past so they naturally went full Soup Nazi.

I have no idea what an IRB is, but it doesn’t sound fun. Does it require a latex glove?

Actually, I don’t want to know. Let’s leave the IRB a secret amongst you smart fellers.

Institutional Review Board - they "ensure" that research doesn't violate the rights of human subjects (or other ethical standards).

The HR of research studies. Default position is "No" or "you can't do that"

The Milgram Study of Obedience is often referenced as the reason for having IRBs

It may as well have. I was only doing interviews, no experimentation, and had to go through mounds of paperwork explaining how I was making sure I wouldn't inflict harm on my subjects.
