Feel free to recheck my math, but it seems Hooker moves up to 3rd on this list when it comes to productivity a.k.a yards per attempt. This includes running the football.

I have a new found respect for Young. Surprised at the drop in Corral’s and Rogers’ ranks and increase in Jefferson’s rank.

Young (Bama)
3901 + 68 = 3979
12 games
451 attempts
332 ypg
8.82 ypa

Jefferson = (AR)
2578 + 554 = 3132
12 games
401 attempts
261 ypg
7.8 ypa

Hooker
2567 + 561 = 3128
11 games
409 attempts
284 ypg
7.65

Corral (Ole Miss)
3339 + 597 = 3930
12 games
525 attempts
328 ypg
7.49 ypa

Jones (FLA)
2563+ 697 = 3260
12 games
443 attempts
272 ypg
7.36 ypa

Levis (KY)
2593 + 387 = 2980
12 games
417 attempts
248 ypg
7.15 ypa

Rogers MSU
4449 - 70 = 4379
12 games
687 attempts
365 ypg
6.37 ypa

Max Johnson (LSU)
2815 - 41 = 2774
12 games
451 attempts
231 ypg
6.15 ypa

Is Hooker missing some stats? It shows only 11 games compared to 12 games of the other qbs.

**update**. Doh! Forgot he didn’t start earlier this year. n/m

Yep, lists like the one posted on that website are misleading, because they don’t take in to account a lot of things.

Turning an average ACC QB into an elite SEC QB despite having an average to below average cast around him, is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen any coach do.

On top of that a top ten scoring offense

Young is a great athlete and crazy elusive as a runner - but ....... he is playing for Alabama so probably has 4 or 5 more seconds to find a receiver down field and get it to him vs. most of the others.

SURELY you are not implying that Alabama OL is getting away with uncalled holds are you? Such an accusation is simply scandalous 😳

When did they start including running yards in the yards per attempt calculation? Are the attempts only passing attempts? Is it fair to add QB rushing yards on top of passing yards and only divide by passing attempts? Are Hookers ‘attempts’ passing attempts only or do they include rushing attempts?

I agree that yards per attempt helps measure productivity but I thing there are a lot of factors involved outside of the QB. Tom Brady has had decent yards per attempts numbers through this career from throwing 5 yard passes that receivers run for an extra 15 yards. You have a higher completion % throwing a lot of short dink and dunk passes that improves the YPA formula + having receivers getting a lot of yards after the catch. The new stat that actually shows the average completion ‘In the air” (subtracting yards after catch) more accurately shows the QBs contribution every time he throws the ball. Using Brady as an example again, his yards in the air per completion were always low. The new spread offenses often inflate the YPA calculation.

True! More intangibles! Would you argue their receivers do more with the ball after catches? Hooker just seems more impressive when I watch him.

Didn't know Jefferson played for Alaska. In fact, I didn't know Alaska was in the SEC.

So what? Doesn’t diminish the fact that Young is an excellent QB.

Not this year. Bama's o-line this year is probably the worst one they have had since Saban's first year. They're 12th out 14 teams in the conference in sacks allowed.

This will be a big match up tomorrow and they won't have the luxury of being at home against that pass rush like we did.

We don’t have receivers with jets like the guy who just scored the first TD for Bama. I am sure stuff like that helps Young a bit.
