Your end weight goal is similar to mine. Trying to get to 160 by by 60th birthday on 12/31. I’m trying to develop strength training programs now and hit it hard starting Nov. 1.

Feb. 14 257.1.

10/22 181.5
10/29 179.1 (2.4)

I have given all of my XXL and XL shirts away. Now wearing Larges comfortably. I’ll be wearing mediums soon unless I build some muscle back with the strength training. I had to go out and buy belts yesterday. Bought 34’s. I have about 15 or so belts to give away (sizes 42 and 44).

Nice. My clothes are getting baggie as well. I'm on the very last notch of my belt. It's a good feeling. Good luck on your quest to the 160s.

Sorry to upset you if I did But it is generally true.
You’re absolutely correct and you didn’t upset me.
But I’ve gotten pretty good at this. I’ve held at 214-215 forever. I can’t explain the small but sudden jump. If it doesn’t right itself by next Friday I’ll take a harder look at it.

I’m wearing a Garmin watch which shows how much I burn throughout the day and I count calories thru MyFitnessPal. I should be able over time to see a trend between calories in and out to determine a balance between the following: 1) gain, 2) hold steady or 3) lose weight. The parameters may change over time if I gain more muscle mass.

Jan. 27 - 227 pounds, the heaviest I've ever been. 2020 included lots of sedentary days with "moderate" drinking ranging from a beer to eight per day. I gained about 15 pounds that year. I knew at this point I needed to lose weight. I started exercises casually, 3 times a week, but I didn't change my diet that much. I only gave up my bad habit of late-night-snacking.

July 9 - 219; This is when I started taking it seriously. I started exercising 5 times a week for an hour each session, trying to get my heart rate up to 150 and maintain it for the duration. I also started a stricter diet - eating less than 1800 calories per day, high protein & low calorie ratio concentration, no late-night-snacking, and working on portion control (don't eat a half pint of ice cream, eat 3 bites of ice cream instead.)

Today - 182 (first time I was actually able to exercise 5 times per week in a while. I was going 3 times a week several times in a row, but still maintaining my diet).

I haven't been this light since the W. Bush administration. I looked in the mirror the other day and said, "Wow, I have a collarbone!" It feels good. Yes, I'm bragging. If anyone loses 40+ pounds in less than a year, I want to hear them brag about it.
