According to his lawyer, today is the deadline for Tennessee to reach a settlement with Pruitt. Should we have a countdown clock or something?

I haven't seen any coverage anywhere about this being D Day. So will there be a lawsuit filed, a press conference where they spill the beans, a settlement or nothing?

I wouldn't hold my breath on UT doing something anytime soon. It's what...7 or 8 weeks til the early signing day? Since this years class it pretty much shot, I wouldn't expect any movement from UT before the early signing day. No point in it now. IMO, the clock on Heupel doesn't start until UT takes the damned millstone from around his neck. He's just not playing/recruiting on a level playing field right now. Just a shame UT continues to make life a living hell for the football program.

Apparently Tennessee not too worried about it. Seems like all mouth to me. Lawyer playing his best hand. I'm wondering if Pruitt knowingly did anything wrong I'm not even wasting my time digging into details. He's gone he's history. Could care less about the outcome really. The state Tennessee has been known to screw people over they aren't squeaky clean believe me. If than can't write a contract they need to hire someone that can.

Now providing a settlement to the guy who tanked your program will improve our status? UT chose their path in January. To give in now justifies Pruitt’s claim and moves the fault of the situation to the administration. Why would we give a buy out to a guy who is about to get a multi year show cause?

Because by settling you can also set terms for his ability to make public statements and permanently sever any and all ties between the univ and a horrible personnel decision. Iows, you don't allow pettiness and a desire to be righteous prevent you from closing the books on a circumstance that has the capability to prolong an unfortunate period in an organizations history.

For example, I'd offer Pruitt between 3 to 5 mil if he agreed to refuse to speak with the NCAA, accepted UT's version of events presented to the NCAA and agreed to a permanent ban from coaching at D1 programs. Deciding to settle doesn't mean you lose.
