If the people who put out this hit on Gruden by researching decade old emails with hopes of finding something on him want to maintain the image of being principled and not hypocritical, then their full report will include any and everyone who received those emails and what they did with them. Did they respond lol? Did they forward them on to someone else? Did they rebuke Gruden for what he said or just let it slide by and not object?
Be consistent and thorough. Unless this was done by someone within the NFL office who wanted to go after Gruden specifically, then just sit right where you are and celebrate a job well done.
I think everyone agrees that the things ruden said were inappropriate and unprofessional, and he deserves to be punished for that, but you can't pick and choose certain offenses and say that due process doesn't exist in that case. It always has to exist.
Even for the scumbag murderer who killed a HomeTown hero police officer here in cold blood a few days ago. You still have due process. It sucks, but it's the basis of a fair system. It applies in the worst of the worst situations like the one I just described, all the way down to something relatively minor like an email sent from one person to another.
There need to be follow-up questions, now that the initial purpose has been served for whoever did all this work.
