Chism's IDIOTIC trey attempt...

with 5 or 6 minutes to go in the game ended any chances of the Vols coming back and winning this game. I like Pearl--he's been great for our woebegone program--but he'll never win a national title because he lets the players do their thing too much, and that too results in stupid basketball. Good grief: We've cut a 20 point lead to 7, we have the ball, Patterson has four fouls--and then Chism hoists up a three? Game over. That was just a stupid shot. Pearl yanked Chism for the shot--but you have to wonder why Chism was even so far out in the first place, and why he would have even THOUGHT to take that shot.

This year's team can't shoot from the perimeter, but in time I'm sure some of the guys will find their range. I think the biggest problem with the Vols under Pearl is that we don't have enough bangers and we don't get enough inside scoring. The Vols have one guy who bangs--Chism, and Smith to a certain degree, but he's a bit undersized for the role. Not enough to play with the big boys, IMO--and I don't even count Kentucky as a big boy right now. After those two, the Vols get some production out of Maze and then most everybody else is a young, skinny winger trying to adjust to the college game. This team needs to get more out of Williams--and I think Pearl should play him more (with Chism) and see what happens. Having freshmen toss up off-balance threes at the buzzer isn't working.

Chism is one of the bright spots from last nights game. He has made those 3's before. Team overall is underperforming. Not Chism.

I remember listening to Pearl after teh Marquette game and he said that wayne shooting 3's is a good thing for this team, so I guess Bruce lets him just throw them up there whenever he wants to

well until someone else steps up and takes the shots when we need them, i gladly encourage Chism to continue jacking up the shots.. they have a better shot of going in the basket than passing the ball around the perimeter in the usless 'flex' offense

THE flex isn't useless. Our lazy, non-screening flex is simply trotting around the offensive end and is absolutely worthless.

Are you all smoking crack or something? Why in the hell should Chism shoot threes? That's about freakin stupid. I agree with the first guys post. Chism always seems to shoot threes in the most crucial times of the game and 9 times out of 10 he misses and the momentum goes back to the other team. I would bench his ass every time he shoots a three. Oh, I was at the game last night and I counted countless times Chism didn't hustle and just looked lazy!!!!! I wish Negadu would take some of his minutes away. I am curious to why Negadu didn't see one second last night. We need his hustle. I would take a few points away from Chism and play Negadu for his hustle and defense. I thinhk Wayne Chism is one of the most over rated players we have and I would make him run laps after laps until he quit shooting the three. Why doesn't he play more down low??????

1) who is Negadu?

2) Chism has averaged a double double over the last 5 games and you call his effort out. Dumb.

I do call him out. I watch his play closely every game and he makes very stupid decisions at the worst times of the game. I would sit his ass in a minute if I was CBP.

Because sometimes he gets hot from three-land. Very rare to see it, but it's happened before.

It was a dumb shot considering Patterson had 4 fouls, but the thought of sitting Chism is laughable.

That would be pretty moronic, considering he has repeatedly gotten double-doubles, and held Patterson (an all-american) to nine points. Chism played a great game. He had little to do with the loss.

he didn't hold Patterson to anything. UK didn't look for Patterson all night, or he too would have scored at will. They simply didn't need him.

Sometimes isn't good enought when you really need the win and your team is behind and on some kind of run; then all of a sudden he shoots a three and all of our momentum leaves and goes back to the other team.

I think it is time for Chism to stop shooting three's. He's too valuable down low and his season percentage is below 25%. But, I don't think you should bench arguably the best player out there for UT.

I would red light him immediately. He wouldn't like it, but it would be better for the team. He would venture out to 3 land far less. I'm not overly worried about the atrocious percentage because he doesn't take that many, I just want him near the bucket.

I think it's all about timing with Chism. He should not be shooting threes with under 10 minutes to go in the second half.

The only reason he was there to shoot that three is he was slow getting down on the floor. We were down by a million and need the three. He was open. I don't fault him for taking it. He doesn't take that many to begin with but when he's open, go for it. This team has so many other problems that Chism's occasional 3 point doesn't matter in the big picture.

I couldn't agree more.

In my previous posts, I didn't mean to bench him the etire game.... I just meant to sit him down for a minute or so and chew his a$$ out for taking stupid shots.

He really doesn't take all that many but the ones he does take are at very crucial times in the game. Plus it sems like when we do shoot three there isn't anyone under the basket for the rebound.
