Vaccine isn’t a vaccine, it’s a therapeutic that is losing efficacy. Doesn’t help me. Could hurt me. My natural immunity is better. No thanks
I believe even the vaccinated players will be tested once a week.Exactly what it is for.
Here is key points, IF you are vaccinated, you don’t get tested. IF you are not, you get 2 tests a week and if you are positives you sit. Vaccinated doesn’t sit. That ensures most teams will be at least 75% (85% is the goal) players are good to go. Only a few aren’t there yet. AU is about 50% and their HC isn’t vaccinated.
This is where games will be lost IMO. Having the vaccine and then have contract tracing with positive covid test. Bet your ass Bama will be clean all year@Chipperbones, my daughter is a school teacher, got vaxxed and still caught covid. Not hospitalized, just had to quarantine till Thursday.
I agree. Bars and house parties will be covid breeding groundsAre any SEC schools doing "remote classes" this year? If so, their athletes aren't forced to wander around campus and that would lessen their exposure.
A forfeit to Vandy or USCe would be a knife to the gut. I dislike the "bubble" mentality but exposure to random folks is where the risk is for the team.
Many schools are not contact tracing anymore. The high schools in our county are just sending out warnings to make you aware if your child has been around anyone that tests positive and stating that if your child has been around anyone and shows symptoms then keep them home. If no symptoms appear there aren’t any issues sending them to school. At least those are the protocols here in Sumner County. It's not positive tests that are the real problem. It's the contact tracing that results from a positive test that could trigger a significant number of players being held out. And this in spite of the other players being vaccinated and testing negative.
Now do the math on those under the age of 25 with no serious medical conditions. The State of Tennessee has had 1,021,578 positive cases. Only 13,338 deaths (which are NOT all because of COVID. If you have a GSW, but had COVID when you died, it counts as a COVID death)
That math comes out to 0.0013
Or 0.13%
If I told you that you had a 0.13% chance of getting in a airplane crash, would you still get on the plane? 0.13% of winning a bet, would you bet your house on it? 0.13% is not huge at all.
And that isnt to discount the 13,000 deaths. Those people are real people and loved by many.
But this response over something that has killed only 0.13% of the people who have been confirmed to have gotten it is ridiculous.
It’s never been about the deaths. It’s always been about hospital capacity. That is not a myth. The State of Tennessee has had 1,021,578 positive cases. Only 13,338 deaths (which are NOT all because of COVID. If you have a GSW, but had COVID when you died, it counts as a COVID death)
