Coronavirus (No politics)

Pretty sure the SEC has said that once you reach the 85% threshold of vaccinations, then the players will not be regularly tested. We can argue all day about the vaccine, but no one should be tested if vaccinated, and I really don’t want my team to possibly have to forfeit a game.
Not sure why. People who are vaccinated are still getting covid and spreading the virus.

No reason to if the vaccine is available. It’s all about probabilities, just like the flu shot. It’s not a guarantee but greatly reduces it.

I understand the antibody debate and have no idea how that should fit. I will leave that up to doctors. Some seem to think that the antibodies aren’t as strong after a certain period of time, and a two shot vaccine is more effective.

I’m a year and 3 months post Covid. Just had antibody test and still show strong. The SEC and others need to allow covid recovery and active antibodies into the numbers count toward total covered as far as team activities, games, etc go

They do, but just up to 90 days after a positive test.

That may have been the case earlier in the Summer, but they slowly took the 85% thing away from different parts as time went on (and I suspect as delta spread got worse). August 3rd document -- it was only relevant to masks. As of August 11th, there's no mention of 85% at all.

It goes for even 100% vaxxed teams. All that matters now is if the individual is vaxxed or not.

Except we are now hearing about a third shot (from the officials) while antibodies are lasting a lot longer than those same officials said they would. The problem many have with the authorities in this situation is the amount of pious surety they have pressed while the facts have been exactly the opposite.

Many more people would be vaccinated right now if it weren’t for the bullying and the shaming that has occurred when the facts haven’t been on the side of the bullies.

This discussion will get moved, and I’m trying to maintain some discipline on what is a controversial topic. I’m not a doctor although I could use some logic and suggest that antibodies from more than a year may not be as effective as a shot from 4-6 months ago. I’m not sure I understand your last paragraph, but that’s ok. It’s too close to football starting to get all ruffled about this IMO.

Edit: It also depends on the person as some have gotten it more than once.

I know none of this belongs in this forum but since y'all are going on about it, I'm gonna add my two cents and let mods clean it up with the rest of the posts. I agree 100% with this post UTM & I have to add that all of the posts going saying just get the shot act like there haven't been any adverse side effects (which there have been) & that the "vaccine" (not a vaccine it's a shot) has been proven to be safe (no long-term data for that) & effective (clearly not).

I didn't recognize the name of the hospital when I read your post. So I looked it up. I just read the reviews that were on the home page..

Both of my kids were born there. My youngest is four, so that was obviously before covid. We had a great experience both times. It's pretty highly thought of locally. We have several friends that have had their children their as well. I can't speak for it now since I haven't been there in a few years, but I thought they did a great job.

True.

Then there's information such as this that gets ignored when people only dig to find support for the answer they want.

no idea what this means. Pfizer is now fully FDA approved. People i know who were hesitant were so because it was still on emergency status.

If Pfizer is 90% efficacy. The booster doubles that. I believe it also also decreases likliehood of breakthrough Delta infection.

politics are dumb. just get the shot.

Vaccine isn't preventing people from testing positive for covid or spreading it now that we're pretty much only seeing delta at this point, which are the only two things that matter as far as sports go. It prevents bad symptoms and hospitalizations, but these kids aren't at risk for that anyway.

So Vax rate won't help players avoid covid protocol, at least that's how several of my medically inclined acquaintances have explained it to me.
Has to do with testing. For the NCAA. The lower our rate the more we get tested. Also, individuals who are vaccinated who have come into contact with someone with COVID are not considered close contacts.

Also facts

It’s not a requirement just strongly suggested
Hype's answer kinda worries me the vax rate isn't terribly high. Sounded a bit like Auburn's AD response.

Maybe even 70 or 80% might be enough to keep us from serious spread issues. Hopefully we at least get somewhere around there.

If Ole Miss can hit 100% vax rate then we should too. Maybe they’re counting those with antibodies as vaccinated.
