The games kinda revealed he’s not the best player too so what dead horse would you like to keep beating now?Wish him the best if this is true. The QB room just got thinner.
I wish he had stayed since no one has taken a live game snap yet. As we've witnessed for 4 years, practice cannot always reveal the best player.
If he wants to play he needs to go where he can play. Tennessee wasn’t the place for him to play longterm as he was going to be recruited over each year. He filled a spot for his class but wasn’t the answerIf he is truly 4th on the depth chart I don’t blame him. He wants to play and who can say if his issues weren’t lack of coaching the last few years. Good luck to him if he is leaving.

You misspelled gravitas. Should’ve led with “I guess Jesus just needed him a QB! You’re my boy Blue!”

It’s really funny actually. You have 45% defend him, 45% dislike him, and 10% who don’t really care because he wasn’t going to be the starter in their opinion. Some of you guys react like Maurer personally hurt you...grow up and stoping spending your life worrying about freaking 20 year old tweets..do we need a doll to point out where Maurers tweets hurt you???
Right. Because it is completely hopeless to think a guy might have potential after some of the really good things he did as a Fr. It is only a "dead horse" because folks like you cannot accept that he has talent. It appears that Heupel thinks his energy is better focused on the other 3 at this point. I trust his judgment on that completely... and it still doesn't prove what you just stated. In fact, what you stated is false. The games kinda revealed he’s not the best player too so what dead horse would you like to keep beating now?
His problem is purely between the ears not his talent.Right. Because it is completely hopeless to think a guy might have potential after some of the really good things he did as a Fr. His problem has always been consistency not the "ability" to be the "best player". That "horse" is alive and well.
I've always defended Maurer as I have a lot of Vols and coaches when I thought people were being unfair to them in a way that didn't line up with the facts. But maturity could be part of it. He seems to need some success or affirmation to buoy his confidence. That became a lot harder with the addition of Milton and Hooker.Well after listening to Swain I believe he should leave. A lot of gifts but not the maturity to do anything with it.
Harsh, but the only reason BM is a topic of discussion here is because of that long TD pass against Georgia.Right. Yeah, myself and many others, including the last 25+ coaches the university of Tennessee have paid money to evaluate such things, seem to have a different opinion.Right. A pacifier, the weight room, some sort of risk assessment and a sports psychologist for starters.I've always defended Maurer as I have a lot of Vols and coaches when I thought people were being unfair to them in a way that didn't line up with the facts.
