I know that, but if they really are doing everything they can to just make Milton the guy, then I don't blame HB if he says f it and goes somewhere else.

I don't think JH is that stupid.

I wouldn't either McGill. Every time Bailey has stepped out onto the field he has done good things. Not sure why we give up so fast on people. I wouldn't blame either,

I don't know if they "want" Milton to be the guy or not. I've maintained he is the best athlete of the group, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was true simply because of the way his athleticism could give them more options.

I do know this. The idea of Milton being handed the job for free doesn't hold water when those other three guys had an entire Spring to convince CJH to not bring in another QB and they couldn't do it.

I think there will be a competition in name only. I think the coaches want Milton and will give him the opportunity to not lose it.
I wouldn't go that far.

It appears to me Heupel and the offensive staff weren't happy with any of the QBs in Spring. Milton was brought in to help that, no doubt, but it won't be handed to him.

I think he has an advantage because he has the arm strength this offense requires. My bet would be Milton as the starter for Bowling Green.

Whatever it is, what is being done to her is some kind of "ism"....a lot of the people in Harlan County have speech patterns and words that sound like that..I'm getting sick of criticism...people speak like they speak.

And the people of Harlan County are unfairly looked down upon for it. Southern speech and black speech come from the same root. What the folks criticizing that girl are saying is why do you get to profit from using something that black folks and many southern white folks get discriminated against for using? It’s pointing out that words many of us felt looked down upon for saying are being used by others to look trendy or popular while when common folk say it it’s looked upon as ignorant. If I went to a lot of places and used the kind of speech I was brought up using I would be stereotyped as less than whereas this girl is using it to build a brand.

It’s not an enormous deal but it’s also not right that AAVE, Southern Speech, and Appalachian dialects are stereotyped negatively by the rest of the country and even within our own communities.

I don't get it either other than I guess he didn't blow people away and play like Manziel last year trying to work with Pruitts garbage offense after also having zero development time.

I actually thought he looked great considering those things...I saw the potential. The kid could have insane numbers in this offense.

I think Bailey is a smart kid. He's here the entire season regardless of who wins the competition because he knows: 1. He's getting trained by a top-notch QB guy 2. Anything can happen during the season.

If Milton takes the job solidly this season then I'd expect him to transfer at the end of the season.

I can be pretty well spoken when I choose to, but I am a redneck country boy and that is what I sound like. My little brother had a friend once from Cali that came to my house back in the day and made some smartass remark about the way we were talking...

I asked him what his IQ was, and then told him mine was twenty points higher, and that it should teach him something.

If Milton had a break out year then he's going to the draft imo. Which of course would, hopefully, keep Bailey here

I hope Matt Butler gets 50 sacks this year. He's a beast and incredibly likeable.
Butler is a great example of a true student athlete. He excels in the classroom, too. Coaches used to say, he was too smart for his own good on the field, not reacting, overthinking it. He's gotten better and better, every year, tho. I thought last year was his mini breakout, this year, he breaks all the way out.

Bailey is gone then

I pointed this out before, but I think Bailey has the best chance of staying.

Hooker, Milton, and even Maurer all 3 will basically have graduated (or can) after this season. Hooker has just 1 year left regardless I think, Milton has a few but he's been in school so long that he may want to declare after one break out season (if he starts/has that season here). Salter is gone now so that would really leave Bailey with just Maurer to compete with going into next year.

Could be wrong and Milton could stay longer than a season here.

How ? He was the best QB that played last year under terrible coaching.
I mean I wouldn't even concede that. Shrout had the best moments of anyone last season.

90% of HB's time on the field was at the beginning, middle, or end of blowout losses. The idea that he proved anything last year is just kind of crazy to me. He could be the guy, but if he was doing all of these great things on the field last year we would have won more than three games. QB play was bad last year. For the entire room.

Anyone proclaiming HB the guy because of what he did last year, or anyone proclaiming him a bust because of what he did last year, are both wrong. We don't know what Bailey is yet because he has not been coached. He had good moments, he had bad moments. Not worth debating. We'll find out whether he is the guy or not in a few weeks.

right on, Bass.

The bottom line is its a really talented QB room. May the best one win. Also, offensives schemes can make players look completely different if they're in the right one. I just want my team to win and/or put themselves in a position to win games in the second half. Let the staff sort it all out.

It drives me a little insane when I see QBs, or any player, with zero muscle definition. I know that some of the greats weren’t jacked, but just having been in those facilities so many times and seeing everything at their disposal, it’s frustrating to me to see no real improvements or changes.
I can't believe all of them aren't ripped. I mean, Maurer looks pudgy and soft in those pics. Bird chest.
