Was referring to the $20 mil part, if we are paying more than Charlie than he better be better than what Charlies done this year. Not following the logic here
Charlie makes more $ and is at worst co-ace of the staff
There are 26 pitchers in the NL with an ERA under 4. Of the ones who have reached free agency, exactly zero make less than $11M and most of them aren’t even close. Was referring to the $20 mil part, if we are paying more than Charlie than he better be better than what Charlies done this year.
As it refers to Drew, im expecting more than 5 innings and an ERA under 4 for what hes getting paid
My last point then ill drop it for tonight. The reason I hate Smylys contract so much is we had 2 kids not named Wright or Wilson than can do what he is dong. Thats $11 mil that couldve gone to either the pen or the bench to beef up areas we are weak in.
Which 2???Was referring to the $20 mil part, if we are paying more than Charlie than he better be better than what Charlies done this year.

The issue with Smyly is AA jumped the gun and paid too much, too early. When Smyly started the season slow/bad, it looked even worse. If he continues the recent work, he is probably worth his contract; we could have gotten him or another for less. There are 26 pitchers in the NL with an ERA under 4. Edit: my apologies, we missed the Anthony descalfani lottery
Neither is proven at this point. Smyly was brought in to just give them a serviceable alternative so they could avoid the nightmare of last year's rotation where we're throwing multiple rookies and a bullpen game in the NLCS.Muller and Davidson come to mind for me.
