I’ve never trusted cooking from frozen. And I’m not huge on using hot water to thaw either, but thanks for the tips. My thought was let some salmon thaw and cook it for Thursday.Woot!
I ain't telling you what to do, but I cook salmon in the air fryer from frozen all the time. With the cheap stuff it hasn't mattered. I suggest thawing the sockeye first. You probably were anyway, but I just thought I'd warn you if you had thoughts of trying it like I did. It wont ruin it but it's better thawed first.
I've never contacted them to ask them why, but for some reason when I thawed it under water the cryovac busted and the salmon soaked in water. I don't like that. I thaw it in the fridge overnight.
I don't thaw with hot water, always cold. It's safe on foods that have only been frozen once and it doesn't compromise quality, unless water penetrates the wrapping like it did with this salmon. I bout had a heart attack. Lol.I’ve never trusted cooking from frozen. And I’m not huge on using hot water to thaw either, but thanks for the tips. I also have cedar planks for the grill that I want to use at some pointI don't thaw with hot water, always cold. It's safe on foods that have only been frozen once and it doesn't compromise quality, unless water penetrates the wrapping like it did with this salmon. I bout had a heart attack. Lol.
Anyway, good plan. Look forward to hearing how good it was.

May have set the plank on fire but not the fish. View attachment 369876
I’ve gotten a lot better with the incinerator in a short amount of time.BTW, In @Orangeslice13 defense, it takes some balls and experience to plank cook salmon in an incinerator.
Pay attention. I posted how they had problems with it. It was around 15 years old, blah blah, they reported it to maintenance and he hadn’t done anything about it, blah blah, fire department had to evacuate the building because of gas leak, about 3 weeks ago.And "it wasn't taken care of" lulz, if it was a Vulcan it's possible it was 60 years old. Lol.
I’ve definitely set my cedar plank on fire. Twice actually. First time I’m guessing I didn’t soak them enough. Second time I think I just used the plank one too many times. Didn’t have time to soak em today, but I still love how my meal came out. Thought the seasoning recipe would be too strong by the looks. But it was perfectBe careful!!
