Culinary, Arts, Thread.

I had sliced green grapes in chicken salad once in a cafeteria by surprise (didn’t realize they were there.) I had never heard of it before, but it was great! I think it had walnuts or maybe pecans as well.

Sounds horrible until you try it, I guess.
The purple grape is best.

Meows when he goes fishing because he thinks it'll help him catch a catfish

Reminds me of a cool story bro....

Snug Harbor was built over the water, I mean I've told stories about cooks fishing through a hole in the kitchen floor and I've posted pictures of it.

During season we were on at least an hour wait every night. People would walk along the dock while they waited.

We were known for many things, but dolphins were a big thing. They hunted the bay during tide and twice a day every day 365 there were usually 5 or 6 close enough to almost reach down and touch.

Anyway, it was an everyday several times a day occurrence that people being people would ask "when will the dolphins come out?" Or "where are the dolphins?" Like we had control over it.

One of my long time servers Ritchie Gay, yep that is his name, from Wisconsin. He was my jagy drinking buddy, he used to have several answers that were funny. The best one that is probably still going on 15 years later, he would tell them they had to go to the edge of the dock and whistle for them. Lol.

When it first got started I went out on the dock and saw a bunch of people whistling and asked somebody what they were whistling for, when they told me....I immediately started looking for Ritchie.

Ritchie was about 5'4" and probably 200 lbs. but he didn't seem fat, he was kinda athletic and stocky.

We had a reach in speed rack cooler we kept plated house salads in on the service side of the kitchen. Like this one...

When we were training new employees it was custom for Ritchie to get inside of it. Lol. It was the best part about hiring new employees. I can remember at least 2 quitting.

Ritchie is where I learned about table stretchers. New server comes up to me and says "I'm supposed to ask you to show me where the 50 pound bag of marshmallow is because I need the table stretcher next to it for this party of 13".

Had some good times.

You might like this true story:

When my kids were still in their teens, we used to go to Emerald Isle (NC Outer Banks) for a family reunion week in the summer. Usually by the fourth day, we were desperate to escape the relatives and would go for a day trip to Beaufort NC.

A marine biologist there had a 41’ wooden sailing yacht called the Good Fortune. He ran dolphin sighting tours offshore and had a Golden Retriever that snoozed on the bow. The dog would be in what looked like the deepest of comas, but Captain Ron told us to keep an eye on him. We’d be sailing along, and suddenly the dog’s head would pop up, and he’d go to the side, stare in the water and start barking. Ron would steer that way, and sure enough, dolphins would surface.

There were several other GR’s after we stopped going (I was the only one in the family who enjoyed it, lol), but I don’t know if they could scent dolphins.

Looks like he has retired now. He never really suffered fools gladly, and maybe he made enough off his winter Caribbean charters (ahem) to hang it up.

Sammy on David Lee Roth.....

Sammy Hagar minced no words while discussing his Van Halen predecessor David Lee Roth in a new interview, saying Roth's voice "hasn't aged well" and accusing the singer of "pretending" with his "totally ********" stage persona.
Hagar took his jabs at Roth during an interview with Brazilian internet show Inside With Paulo Baron. Discussing the differences between the two frontmen, Hagar said of Roth, “He’s a real character. He's a showman. He's all show. I enjoy him. But you talk about cringing. I can't imagine how he feels when he looks at some of them old videos, the way he was dancing and moving, and the way he was singing live sometimes. I don't know how he feels about all that, but I don't think he cares.

“The difference between him and I [is] I sincerely care,” Hagar continued. “What is important to me is enlightening and elevating people spiritually and making them happy and making them have big dreams, making them want to be better themselves. And my goal with everything I do is to bring that to people and change their life, if I can. I don't think [Roth] cares about anything like that. And that's the difference between our presence. He's very much into himself, very much into being a showman and doesn't really care. I don't know what he cares about, I really don't. I don't know him. I have no idea who that guy is. I don't think anyone does. But he entertains me. I enjoy watching him do stupid ****."
