Hate to say it, but Butch came in and immediately grabbed the best players in the state. Heupel can do itVandy was 49th, bowling green was 105th. So technically you are right, either would love to have our class. Just like they would aspire to our 22nd rated class.
It's the type of class Kentucky uses to put more guys in a single year into the NFL than we do in 3/4/5 classes combined.
Not really. With the new transfer portal you can compensate for those deficiencies year by year. This is not the same recruiting game it was a year or two ago.At one time, if I remember correctly, this recruit class was ranked 2, 3.
Now, on 247, after removing the rating points from Kaidon Salter and Isaiah Washington it has fallen all the way to #36.
There are now only 15 recruits left in that defection strapped class.
This is the kind of class a Bowling Green or Vanderbilt would aspire to.
Huge pressure on Heupel to bring in a top class this year. You CANNOT have two weak classes in a row. That will destroy you 3, 4, 5 years down the road.
IMHO we need a loaded top 5-10 class to overcome the 2021 debacle.
We got manhandled last year by Kentucky worst loss to them in 85 years
People on the outside that look at that score will forever view that game as Kentucky completely dominating us it’s just way it is when you lose 34-7. And it could’ve been 41-7 Kentucky showed mercy in the final minutes. No matter how you want to spin it we lost by 4 touchdowns to a mediocre Kentucky team that lost 6 SEC games. Pruitt should’ve been canned after the game and JG should’ve never started another game but yet that fool Pruitt started him the very next week against Bama.Ok, I’ll stoop down to your level for a moment.
You fail to mention that the offense was running the ball effectively against UKs defense until doofus brain throws two picks for a TD that resulted in loss of momentum.
Acting like UK dominated us like they were the better team shows how much you know about the sport.
Carry on with your circus act.
You feed em…they eat.Ok, I’ll stoop down to your level for a moment.

I’ve thought this for some time now and have got roasted on here for suggesting it. I think moving to the ACC would be mutually beneficial for Tennessee and the ACC our baseball and basketball teams would transition well and fit in and our football team would immediately improve. I mean we do border North Carolina and Virginia and Georgia Tech and Clemson are relatively short drives away from Knoxville.
So just so I'm clear, you are cool with being an also-ran 5-7 or 7-5 team forever as long as you are in the SEC, rather than be a contender in another league? Good work there snowflakeIf you want to go to TaTallahassee rather than Gainsville, and the ACC rather than the SEC,I know for a fact your "volsack"is empty-neutered.Tuck tail and hide.Leave the Good and volnation to people who are here, good or bad.And you should.Take the other "chicken littles" with you.Go vols forever!
Absolutely agree. It only takes one year to turn things around. You could see where UT football was headed the first year Doug Dickey took over. Same for Alabama in 2008. Spurrier at Florida in 1990.This is over the top and defeatist. A college athletic program's direction can change quickly with the right hire. I don't know if Josh Heupel is that right hire or not, but he deserves a chance... also, people who speak in absolute terms are usually proven wrong. Clemson would not have made anyone's list of the top ten programs in college football from 1989 to 2012. It takes one good hire and a little patience.
Its impressive, but you may be the dumbest person on this board. To not understand facts when people present them to you is impressive. What exactly is Tennessee's path back to relevance? What you seem to think is that we have gotten closer to beating Georgia (whom we've only beaten 3 times since 2008) and Florida (whom we have beaten ONCE since 2008) than we have further away from it. I'd love to hear your explanation for that, and how we are closer to being a contender again with what is coming on the horizon, which by the way, will make our national irrelevance 25 years if you see any sort of change after year 3. So there are your facts, lets hear your profound reasoning for why we are close and the glory days are coming backSeems like the drugs you advocate that are so safe have had permanently damaged your brain cells.

And Kiffin just took a 4 star safety right of Tennessee today lol. Hepel can’t and won’t be able to recruit here.
We are Colorado or Minnesota and Nebraska now. Tennessee football will never be elite again we will never see the success we had in the 90’s again I’ve made peace with that and begrudgingly have accepted that we will never be back. The recruits and high school kids today look at us as a garbage program and the laughingstock of the SEC a even bigger laughingstock when you think about it because we have a huge stadium and alot of resources yet we still suck and have for a decade plus now.
That’s it exactly. No question we’re losing a lot of bodies and production from last year’s team. There’s also no question we’ve upgraded the HC. The difference between the impact of those things determines how we perform. It’s a huge oversimplification as a third major factor also comes into play with the schedule clearly easier but the player and coaching turnover have the most impact. I’m excited but also expect this year will have plenty of bumps. Crap, Saban went 6-6 his first year at Bama and lost to La Monroe.Let's hope the coaching and development by this new staff along with minimal injury out paces the loss we are experiencing in talent and depth right now.
A 10 step program to get to this point
1. Hire an athletic director that is in over his head
2. Hire a coach that literally no-one else wants
3. Hire a coach that was run off from 2 prior jobs due to personality issues
4. Hire a coach whose mentor is Rush Probst
5. Extend a coach that no one wants although coach lost to GA State
6. Coach leads team that quits against home curbstomping by UK
7. Coach leads team to double digit loss against team that had come into season without SEC win since 2017
8. Start an investigation to nuke football program to avoid paying the buyout
9. Keep coach on staff in December although it was clear he was in over head
10. Fire coach weeks after season is over.
