Gun control debate (merged)

Chipman testified yesterday that he wants all AR15 rifles classified as NFA items. He was pressed as to what defines an "assault" rifle and he said any rifle that has a caliber over .22 and has a detachable magazine.

It's like having your math expert trying to sell the idea that 2+2=5...or purple. This guy needs to be removed from anything involving firearms.

What an idiot. So my dad’s Remington 788 in .30-30 with a two shot detachable mag is now an assault rifle. And this clown is up for a department head. Classic example of an idiot that should have been bounced out of government service after Waco failing upward. Our government is broken.

Btw here is a pic of my dad’s fearsome assault rifle 🙄

Sorry, I left out semiautomatic. Having said that, I have a Browning BAR in 270 with a detachable magazine that would have to be registered as a FFA item. Also have a Remington 30-06 semi. Luther and company can say they are for "rational and reasonable" but the end game is first a firearms registry and then confiscation.

Did you see part of the interview he did March 2020? He really sounds like a loon.

My son is going to in-person Boy Scout Camp this summer. He signed up for his Rifle training and merit badge testing without me having to encourage him.

I'm a proud papa right now.
I remember a high school gun safety course that included firing low powered, paper wad revolver cartridges into a target in the gym. How things have changed.

Sooooo ****ing stupid
I disagree; it’s vey smart when you’re a prohibitionist. We have to stop understating the danger these people pose to our rights and stop referring to them as snowflakes, idiots and such. They know exactly the incremental game plan necessary to eventually disarm the people.

Josh Sugarmann was the guy who, decades ago, devised the plan to confuse the general public by correlating semi-auto AR and AK cosmetics with full auto military weapons.

Here’s the plans evolution: take out that ownership base then acknowledge those ‘weapons of war’ account for FAR fewer deaths than semiauto pistols, then go after them. Then we’ll find out even common hunting calibers are FAR more lethal than the lowly ‘assault rifle’ calibers(!). Perhaps then the “even many gun owners agree you don’t need an assault rifle to hunt” will wtfu and realize what useful tools they’ve been.

Let’s stop underestimating these people before then. They’re intelligent, calculating, and have patience.

Step dad had the 742 30-06...maybe the same as you have. (or the same model family)

The devious are certainly making some hay with the ignorant on the firearms issue.
