That's his job. His job is to keep good coaches, fire bad coaches, and hire good coaches. He should be able to rally the troops (boosters, admin) and put forth a plan for both facilities and salary structure. I don't think anyone, including TV expects a renovated stadium in the off season but it shouldn't be difficult to form an overall vision and timeframe for the Volunteer baseball program. He's getting paid in the top tier of AD's and it shuold be expected for him to perform at that level. We could hire @drvenner, @utvols88, or @Glitch if we wanted C level performance out of our AD and pay them in donuts.
You could pay Vandy's AD $10mm a year and it wouldn't keep their (hypothetical) football coach from going to Bama. Paying someone good money doesn't make them superman. It may be his job, but I'm arguing the difficulty of such a task, given the situation he's been thrust into, leaves failure as something not worth burning him at the stake over.

It's an absurdly tough situation if the right suitors were to come calling, similar to ISU somehow keeping Campbell all this time (and that with an AD that had already been there for 11 years prior to Campbell).

I just don't think we can take our football arrogance to the baseball arena. We have zero sway in that area sadly. The best programs will cherry pick us 9 times out of 10. But maybe we can build such sway if TV stays...🙏 Fingers crossed brotha.

Been looking at some of the new signees and came across this young man from Alabama. Honestly I was worried about him transferring out of here. Because I thought he was close to Pruitt. Did a little reading about him and found out that he ruptured his ACL back in January and had surgery on January14.
I'm really pulling for him to make a speedy recovery. Not sure how long it takes to rehab a ruptured ACL but I'll be praying for him.
With the proper development this dude could really present some problems for a defense. A multi sport athlete with skills and size. At 6'7" 260lbs I'm excited to see how this staff can utilize him. GBO!

@LA Vol isnt giving me high hopes of keeping Vitello. Dude has built this program from nothing! Pay the man and let him build whatever he wants his ballpark to look like! Classic UT to piss away a good thing!

Where did he say this? I have no doubt that if Vitello leaves, then there wasn’t anything that we could do immediately. DW will offer him more, and there is a plan for LNS.

It's going to be fascinating to see how many so called Vol fans will be cheering for Kiffin when he rolls into Neyland this fall, and how many will be disappointed if he heads back to Ole Miss a loser.
They're going to come out like roaches then run and hide if he loses.

He was horrible. And they still scored 32 points against that defense. That LSU team steamrolled GA that year and Heup nearly beat them. If Milton had not gotten injured, he would have beaten them.
Can you imagine how many would be using this logic to make CJH the best coach in the SEC if he were coaching at FL?

If ToP was actually a meaningful stat, then everyone would be running the triple option or worse.
I read an article a few years ago that basically said the more points you score, the less it matters.

Point being, if your offense can score, it really doesn't make a difference whether you are doing it fast or slow.

Random.

Anyone else refer to a wedgie as a "grundy?" Or maybe a more nuanced distinction would be that a wedgie is something that is applied to someone else's underwear while a grundy is basically your own underwear riding up your crack involuntarily.

Examples:

"That waterslide gave me a major grundy."
"Did you see the wedgie @InVOLuntary gave @bignewt ?"
You may have a little too much time on your hands :cool::cool:

Baseball is a different animal imo. Dynasties change. SC was on top just after years ago. It moves around much more. It's not like football. I wouldn't fire him over it but it will be a failure in my eyes if he gets away. Do our facilities match up to some others? No. But can our facilities match up or exceed others? Absolutely. He's paid to make stuff like this happen. If he doesn't, he's not done what he's paid to do. All JMO. Why pay an AD the money we do if he can't retain our best coaches. By your logic if we hire Bill Gates we shouldn't expect the best computer science department. If your expectations are to lose your best coaches, may as well hire one of the aforementioned donut boys.

Surprised to hear AP on The Swain Event say that Beasley may be back on the team. Apparently some evidence has come out to help him.
Probably the fact that no one saw anything, a cat was merely found and he may have an alibi. I'll pat myself on the back here.

There's no witness to this. It's all conjecture, at this point. Not saying he's innocent but I'll wait. Hope the cat is Ok

Exactly. They’re mad at him because of the 2020 covid season. So stupid. And again, the reason for their lack of success was not the offense. They were ranked 2nd nationally. It was the defense. I think the UCF fans are dumb and they’re about to regret it. Gus is going to be a disaster there
I’m not taking their side, but if Pruitt wasn’t fired, we’d be on month 6 of his crucifixion on this board

He is not considered by hardly anybody to be top five all time. If you think so then that is ok...plus I think Phil has won 44 or 45 PGA tourneys..which is still great. Phil is firmly top ten imo.

Hagen, Hogan, Snead, Vardon, Sarazen, Player, Jones, Palmer...all those guys would be considered top five before Phil.

He wasn’t even the best player in the final pairing last weekend. Top 5 is absurd

Sure. But Pruitt didn’t have 10 plus opt outs and injuries and Heupel didn’t go 3-7 getting blown out in every single loss

And had Pruitt not kept running JG out there and losing games, he may still be here. He made his bed

And Pruitt had built none of the equity that CJH had at UCF

True also. Heupel is so well liked and trusted by his AD that the latter hired him at UT
Who knows his success and tenure is judged on that hire. I don’t think that fact can be minimized, I believe DW is being truthful when he says that was the last route he wanted to go down because of the scrutiny that would put him under and the optics.

Yeah we bought it this weekend and it delivered today. Looking forward to it. I wonder what kind of commission mattress people make. Who knew people bought 6k mattresses

After having a King mattress no way in hell I would ever have a Queen again
