Gun control debate (merged)

Let's be honest, is anyone here afraid of the left taking their guns away? They are a bunch of girly men that wouldn't know how to fight if they had to and the military is mostly conservatives. So who is going to do it, the police?

I don’t need to wield a weapon to make me feel secure, though I know many of you do... and that’s fine for you. Carrying around phallic-shaped objects like a toddler carries around their teddy is totally something grown men should be doing. Lol
What kind of dudes have you been hanging out with?

Not really. 150 years ago it’s still iron or steel. I could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time, but I haven’t seen any of these 3D printing polymers capable of handling these chamber pressures yet.
Check out civil war cannons and new breach loaders even up to ww1. The reason it took awhile to come about was due to the pressure inside the chamber with a built in weak point.

I am with everyone on not trusting it for a day at the range. But for a drive by or some gang style fight it will do just fine.

I understand. However the pressures created by modern gun powders are pretty severe compared I think to the weapons you are pointing at. Especially all the black powder rounds still around in the early 1900’s.

But also that is just another knob on the problem to turn. You can engineer the rounds to control this also. I’m more just pointing to the case where Bubba isn’t gonna be shooting any existing high power magnum pistol rounds or center fire rifle rounds out of a 3D printed plastic barrel. Not for long anyway.

But it is a solvable problem.

They don't have plastic barrels. It's the frame and a few other parts that are plastic, think polymer frame handguns, polymer ar lowers. Look up the fgc-9

I understand that currently that’s how they work. But the holy grail will be a fully polymer gun I think with ammunition to support reasonable pressures. I’ve seen videos on several of the offerings and yeah they are still steel barrels.
