And nothing you do will stop criminals from doing it. You can make all the laws you want and try to ban all the guns you want and it wonā€™t stop s***.

How many laws had already been broken by the dude that killed the cop to that point sister? Thus why would he care about breaking more firearm possession laws and how would having those laws then actually make anybody safer? Itā€™s almost like criminals donā€™t care about firearm possession laws.

The real buried stat is when the defensive gun use doesn't actually include a defensive homicide or even a discharge for that matter.

For instance, this is an example of the former that won't show up on any homicide stats.

The thing is it's even more common for there to be no shooting at all when one grasps the difference between a defensive gun use and defensive shooting. Unless one is facing a really determined aggressor producing a firearm works wonders in modifying a miscreant's to do list. So what happens in such instances? Well... nothing. Would be predator sees would be prey bare some unforeseen fangs and prudence makes for a hasty egress. There's almost no telling how often that happens since, unless the threat was a known person, report what?

Wild hog hunting in east TN as a kid we had the long gun and a magnum pistol on our hip. Use the long gun unless they charge close then climb a tree and shoot the bastards in the face with a pistol.

I never had to use the pistol thank goodness.

link to those stats? there are less than 20k innocent victims. you seriously think there are only 200 good defensive shoots in the nation in a given year? and that 20k is a lot of rounding up, and assuming everyone was innocent.
