Transfer Portal 21-22

Good get for them. Had a feeling she’d go somewhere that needs a star. She’ll slide right in where Aari left off. Didn’t think she was Kellie’s type of player. She’s looking for someone who will play in system.

Koi is a scorer and does better when she can go one on one instead of relying on the offense to get a bucket.

Taylor Chavez seems like a Kellie Harper type player. Probably tough to fish her out of the PAC-12, but she’s tough. She had a tough season. Oregon seemed to be having some serious chemistry issues with their guards though. Some of them were bound to leave.

Chavez is a terrific three point shooter and free throw shooter. Looks like she doesn't attempt to get in the fight for rebounds only averaging 1.8 per game for her entire career. She had a super season as a sophomore was way down last season didn't seem to play much.

Who is going to get Jordan Lewis she checks all the boxes someone is getting a super player in her.

Looks like were thinking about taking a portal player so the next few weeks will be interesting.

I have no doubt we bring in at least one from the portal. I suspect it will actually be 2 but we shall see!

If we could land Jordan Lewis I would be absolutely over the moon. Would shake up our lineup a bit, but in a positive way. Could imagine her at the point, Horston 2, Burrell 3, Striplin/Green/Suarez 4 and Key 5.

Walker would move to 6th woman but I really think her game suits that spot. She would be a fabulous player to bring in off the bench the way she rebounds aggressively and plays defense. A great goal for her senior season could be 6th Woman of the Year in the SEC. Thats what Mulkey did with Carrington this season. Used her as a spark and set her up to win 6thWoY in the Big 12.

The 4 spot was our weakest all season and now we’re looking at several players competing for that starting role if they stay healthy.

Chavez was playing injured most of this season after being expected to come in and play a huge role for the team with the graduation of Sabrina and Minyon Moore. Her sophomore season she was top 25 in the entire NCAA in 3pt. %, EFG%, points per play, points per shot attempt, and offensive rating. She shot 54% from 3 in conference play and scored a pretty incredible 1.39 points per shot attempt, both good for 1st in the PAC-12. If she can get healthy, someone's getting a real player...

She did struggle with increased defensive pressure this season though. To be fair when she shot so well as a sophomore she was usually the 5th scoring option on the floor and wide a** open when she shot. Teams played off of her to cover Ionescu, Hebard, Sabally and Boley. Didn’t have that luxury this season. Bothered Shelley as well, their other guard in the portal.

but where would she fit on the Arizona roster?

I’ll be surprised if they don’t have a player or two down the bench transfer. Maybe not with the excitement of their title game, but a lot of those players barely saw the court this season.

She could end up at AZ State as well. They have a good, long term coach but had a young team and a tough season last year. They could really use someone like Chavez. She would be setting herself up for less attention though.

I see Calip will be returning for Mo State next season. That’s a big win for Coach Mox. Really think they were looking at a big drop off this season. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. A couple of their other seniors are returning as well.

Correct she also has a hard time creating her own shot. Most of the time she was unable to do so.
