4 OOC
Vandy
SC
One of KY (most likely), Mizzou (early in the season, don’t like our chances), or OM (definitely getable, Heupel owned Kiffin in 2 games at UCF).

There’s your 7 wins. Easy peasy

I count 9 wins there...

And at least 3 wins in the rest of the season...
Not making a bowl or playoff prediction yet.

We beat Vandy by how much, and people think they will be better than us this year with a first time HC?

We also beat SC and they bring in a new first time HC that had how many assistants to replace before their spring game?

Come on now, we’ll win 5 games and have a legit shot in another 2-3 of them as well.

Should easily handle Vandy. South Carolinas roster is even worse than ours, so we should win that one too. 3 easy OOC games in theoey. 5-7 should be the floor. But it is UT we are talking about

Coach Jerry Mack speaking yesterday about Jabari Small -

“He’s one of those guys that was born to play running back,” running backs coach Jerry Mack said of Small on Tuesday. “He has a really natural feel, has great instincts. You can tell he’s been really well coached from high school, and also too with the previous staff. He has a natural feel for that position right now.”

“Every day we come out there and he’s disciplined, focused,” Mack said. “He understands protections right now. He’s really intriguing and really impressive for a guy in his youth. Right now he’s been extremely impressive to everyone on the field, the way he handles his business, the way he goes about his business. He takes care of business like a pro, we talk about that in the room all the time.”

“These first six practices, he’s really been a spark,” Mack finished. “He’s showing his true colors and I think he’s going to really help us this year.”

In other news -

Wyatt is 8 years old and already knows what he wants to be when he grows up — a Tennessee football player. Needless to say, he's a big Tennessee fan. He'll quickly let you know he can spell Tennessee just as fast as you can say, "Go Vols!"

Even though he lives in Georgia, he embraces the Volunteer spirit every day, especially when he's around Georgia Bulldogs.

"Bad ole bulldogs, bad old bulldogs," said Wyatt.

Last week, McNeese and Wyatt brought cupcakes to his first-grade class. They were meant to help spread awareness about autism, which Wyatt lives with every day.

And to show her appreciation for the cupcakes, his teacher gave him a special gift.

"Ms. Hall gave him a poster as appreciation for doing that," said McNeese. "Apparently his reaction was epic, in her words."

After seeing his reaction to the poster, Mrs. Hall said she wanted to do more.

She posted on Tennessee Football's Facebook page, explaining Wyatt's love for the team and asking for a letter or signed picture from a player.

She got much more than that. The post has been shared almost 500 times, and the gifts he has received exceeded expectations.

Vol Nation has offered Wyatt everything from personalized paintings, game tickets and everything in between.

"Words cannot express how amazed we are in all of this," said McNeese.

"We've been sharing a little bit with him just to know," said McNeese. "We told him there are a few players who know who he is now and he's really excited about that."

His love was strong for Tennessee and now it's even stronger, thanks to Vol Nation.

"We want to say thank you for everything and the support and love everyone has given," said McNeese.

"The bestest team," said Wyatt. "Go Tennessee."

Random early morning thought....

Guys this might just be my homer shining through but I actually think with Harrison, Banks, Joseph, and Garland - we’ll be better than we all expect at middle linebacker.

I wouldn’t sleep on Garland. While I wouldn’t want him to be an every down starter most likely - I do think he and his brother are just - as the kids say - “built different.” Blue collar hard working over achievers. Just like Roman Harrison. I think he’ll be fairly decent. And having played safety in HS and starting there, here, he should be decent in coverage.

Now, as far as OLB - not sure who all mans those spots. But we are likely to bring in some guys from the portal.

LB don’t be our strength this year for sure. I just don’t think it’ll be the blood bath it looks like it’ll be.

Again, I might just be homering out though.

I don't buy how some don't think we can make a bowl game this year. If Heupel's offense does what it did in year 1 at Mizzou or year 1 at UCF then it really won't matter that our defense has some holes. At least 6 teams on our schedule will not be able to score with us. We ain't playing Pruitt ball no longer folks. Teams are going to have to score more than 17 points to beat us.
We have sacks of potatoes propped up at key positions.

I agree. Banks has shown flashes and Joseph, imo, is better suited here than a pass rushing end. A very athletic group with Garland, Harrison and hopefully Willis and French. Experience is the only negative I see with this group. Last years ILB’s lacked in pass coverage because they lacked in the ability to change direction and quickness...something I thought Banks was better at than the other two. I wouldn’t sleep on this group, especially if Willis gets back.

I agree and people always freak out over spring numbers at positions.... it will look entirely different in fall camp....I think French and willis will be back..... whitehead and hodge are good options to move over..... banks should be full speed and we don’t know who we may pull as a transfer.

Could????? Whitehead be moved there?

I definitely think Whitehead should move to ILB, that's what he was highly recruited at not RB. Pruitt & co. just told him he could play RB to get him on the roster now it's time for him to embrace where he'll likely have the best shot at making the NFL.

I prefer “unproven” Lol but for real it’s only at ILB and CB and it’s not like those positions were great under Pruitt. I’m optimistic we could see improvements there based on a more simplified scheme and that it was already pretty terrible. Besides, It’s not the defense I’m betting on to win us games.

This is the first look at this team for this staff. Not sure why all the freaking out. Its going to take more than 6 practices for these coaches to figure out who goes where and what is the best position for them. I believe they will know exactly who they need to go after in the portal after Spring practice. I wouldn't be surprise if they went all D positions cause it seems to be a bigger need there than the O. Not saying that there isn't need on the O side but the D side is really thin in certain positions and depth.

Can somebody send this to the recruiting staff as talking points against going to the Bamas, Clemsons, OSUs, and UGAs of the world?

Club Shay Shay (@ClubShayShay) Tweeted:
.@A_Kamara6 on being at Alabama with Derrick Henry, TJ Yeldon & Kenyan Drake:

“Not thinking there’s 7 guys, 1 football and 10 games. We get into the room for the first RB meeting, me and Altee looking around the room like: ‘Man we dumb as hell, what are we doing here?’” 😂 https://t.co/FR6GQqQn8O

Also same people freaking out would be chugging the Kool-Aid if Pruitt was still here...

The roster didn't flip suddenly to no talent on defense just cause gump was fired. The only thing I dislike is how many of these players are currently suspended, because those raise character issues and maturity concerns. I think there is enough talent and enough bodies though we'll be alright and if we get back everyone from suspension and they focus on football we'll be even better than alright.

LB is one of the positional groups that I think you benefit from cross-training guys. So even if some of these guys working at ILB end up playing OLB they will benefit from working inside.

Need to show this to all the 5 stars going to UGA and Bama. Grass ain't always greener playing for elite teams.

Not sure what the big deal is about his post but ok I guess
It's not just the post
It's the way he constantly posts. But, I am cool with whomever shares his opinion or appreciates what he shares. I have liked many of his posts, just don't like this one.
