You absolutely give them consequences. You make the consequences fit the event and the level of involvement in that event. These are the details that none of us know. I am sure that he will have consequences, one of which is being indefinitely suspended from team activities. I guarantee you that there is no one reading this board who has not been given a second chance for a pretty bad error in judgment. Without knowing all the facts, you have to go with what our team leadership decides.

That’s the last thing Salter should feel bad about. He should be feeling bad that his stupidity had put him in suspension. As I stated before , he appears to have some serious maturity issues even beyond what most 17/18 year olds have.

There's four scholarship players: Fifth-year senior Solon Page III, former walk-on Kwauze Garland, sophomore Morven Joseph and long snapper Will Albright. They are joined by walk-ons Nick Humphrey, West Shuler and Eunique Valentine. Easiest thing in the world is just to run kids off. Doesn't take much coaching talent to do that. Our job is to change behaviors and build productive young men, often from pretty messed up pieces. Sure, at some point, some kids have to be cut loose, but Salter is nowhere near that point yet. Where would Banks, Jennings, etc ended up if that was the only course of action?

The reason I fell in love with the Vols to start with was because when I was 16, after being mostly raised in the Texas Panhandle, we came home to Knoxville in 85 just in time for the Sugar Vols to be my first season of immersion into Tennessee football with my extended family.

That was not a juggernaut team, it was a underdog team that just played their hearts out, so to me that team was, and always has been to me the epitome of what Tennessee football should be about. If we can get a team full of guys like that again, pure dogs that will collectively outplay their ranking and from their hearts...I will be happy

There are rumors that Heupel is unhappy with the QB room. I'm very interested to see what happens there. Do a couple of guys transfer out if they see the writing on the wall? How hard do we pursue transfer QBs?

A ton of unknowns all over the place.

I don’t understand how we “know” this when we refused to play any of them until late in the year. Pretty sure we will find a QB in that room that will probably put up 50 points in game one.

I don’t think Pruitt recruited well at all. Maybe the guys are talented but a lot of his guys seem to be bad people or have bad attitudes. We know Heupel and these guys can coach. Do we have the players the can execute. My guess is no

If we are all judged on our decisions we made as teenagers, not speaking for everyone else, but I sure wouldn't be as blessed as I am today. Learn from this and lets move on.

I think we will be favored by a small margin. First game with new coach and a scheme completely and totally different than years past. We will win but it'll be closer than you think.

He is getting a free ride and representing the University. Acting like an adult , standards of ethical and moral conduct do not change over time. It should be the same today as it was 20,50 or even 100 years ago.

Well it’s not to hard to refrain from following and assisting buddies to assault a drug dealer in his room and steal is illegal merchandise while your Dad is in the hospital near death. Sorry but maybe Salter should be at the hospital supporting family. He doesn’t get a pass from me for what he did.

I stated several times if it was true. However the fact remains that Salter was suspended so obviously the Coaching staff or Administration believes something occurred. As far as charges not being applied , really doesn’t mean anything. Coverups in Athletics happen all the time and the story may not be finished yet.
