President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

If I were a supporter, I would. I dont want to blindly trust politicians of any party as they play on my emotions promising to fix something they themselves have mucked up. You can do that if you wish. You should simply admit you trust the official or the government to make you feel better, though.

Come on now....

I can certainly understand your POV. Ideally if they were unhireable then yes, other than the national security perspective the wall would be mostly useless. I like to think the wall being something that at least helps in the everchanging political whims every 4-8 years. Not like wall and barrier have not been there for decades, just improved, but not even finished. Sure it is hypothetical just as much as a strong national defense preventing future war.

Why do you think the scared pussy democrats in Washington put up barriers around our capitol? Is it because they don't work?
Are you equating barriers erected for a few 1000 feet complete with guards, infrastructure, and surveillance with a border fence which stretches 1000s of miles?

Not all tools and systems scale up. Does a border fence?

Yeah I think by and large it’s still mostly Mexican nationals

It is so apparent now after all these years. The corps and gov want to eliminate national borders, whether here or the liberal democracies of the EU. Part of ending nationalsim which led to WWI and WWII. A One World Order or Gov will end all wars and hostility.

I always question when someone says "fair". Fair to whom? I dont think anybody disagrees that corps need to pay taxes.
The tax code is so overburdening and so many loopholes the Bezos, Buffets and Gates escape from a personal perspective, and doubt their death tax will be erroneous a a multiple gen farmer.

Amazon paid tax rate of 1.2% on $13B in profits last year | Fox Business

Actually the people who bought from Amazon paid 1.2% on $13B - and Amazon's tax accounting overhead.

I'm in favor of drastic cutting of national defense, too.
I would like to think good things about the wall, too. I chose not to think good and instead chose to ask for evidence billions of dollars for a wall was the right allocation of resources. I have yet to see a compelling argument it is. So I am still anti wall.

Had an interesting inquiry late last week, to help a company called Arencibia who are involved in the recycling of Argon gas at the Neighborhood 91 project being developed on land owned by Pittsburgh Airport. It’s a concept to develop a world-leading manufacturing campus for Advanced Manufacturing which is another term for 3D printing.

Hate to break it to you Trump worshippers but there is no wall. He lied, sold ya a bill of goods
yeah the fence around my back yard doesn't work too well either when I open the gate and leave it open. What is you address so we can send illegals to your house. Surely you'd welcome them with open arms?

I dont disagree, but one cannot claim the citizens pay all the taxes. which I alluded to in my graph several posts ago, and then claim this pitence of consumer tax. Sorry for run on sentence.

Point being the super rich owner of the corp lets himself reinvest that money to avoid tax...Great...leads to jobs and growth and such. At what point do these individuals and corps pay at the expense of growth.

Almost feels like the 1890's with the Carnegie and such titans.

They don't want to. Its just harder to tell because Republicans are so in bed with Putin these days... I expect the President to meet with Republicans from time to time
Wow you are incredibly SMART! No, really. Your intelligence and perceptiveness are unparalleled on VN or even in society. Congratulations to you.

facts are facts. There is no wall. You were lied to.

Although I disagree with you on the wall and to some extent the military, there's one path that makes a lot more sense to me than what is going on right now. We have a fairly large standing active military, reserve military, and national guard, and it's probably not going away; so why not put it to good use? Example: my wife was a Navy Reserve nurse, and one summer spent her active duty time in Alaska supporting a military construction crew building a road on Indian land - had something to do with a road promised for a land swap as I recall. We have all kinds of military support units - medical, construction, etc - why do make work projects for training or put them to use in foreign countries when they could be actively doing stuff here. Military medical services during emergencies, for example, make a lot of sense - erect and man field hospitals where there's an emergency. Let the military build a border - keeps training up and does something positive (at least some of us think so).

The other thought is the combat troops. Why not patrol our borders for readiness instead of playing in someone else's sandbox? I'm not talking police and I'm not talking lethal action - unless you get to drug smugglers who want to make an issue. I don't know why we get hung up on the Posse Comitatus thing when we are talking defense and not our citizens. Turning people around at a border shouldn't be considered police work in the first place; planes flying air defense fly out of the US as border stoppers - same concept but more personal. A lot of that land is not so different from test ranges in the first place - just patrol a buffer zone 24/7 with the new toys and see how they do. We're going to buy them regardless.

I get what you and hog (and others) are saying about de-incentivizing things, and it makes sense, but we've got at least two camps, and one is always going to undo or reverse policies of the other, so good luck with any lasting disincentives. The way we run a nation is no way to run anything. Personally, I think congress should have to get used to people charging the gates - they might get the idea that instead of dividing people for personal gain that dividing people just might be hazardous to their own wellbeing. Perhaps they'd get the concept of working for the people for a change - weird thought, but couldn't be any worse than what's going on now. Besides politician wannabes are a dime a dozen, so if we lose a few here and there - good riddance - they were smelling bad anyway.

I do not think that the border wall is even anything to be concerned about with respect to our overall situation at time. The spending is obviuosly done so lets move on.
I think there is a lot of purism involved. The border wall is a pittance of our debt concerns and done with.

As far as I am concerned, we were presented two viable candidates for Prez. Forget the purist attitude and voting 3rd party in a general election at this point. A third party candidate in the general had .0000001% of winning. Everyone had the choice of primary election and after that it was 2 realistic choices. Taking a purist stand against realialitic or pragmatic attitude has just advanced our demise.

No question about third party voting - just a wasted vote. Whether we like it or not, we will have two parties - it's part of our psyche. Right now basketball is playing down to a two party game - winner take all. The preliminaries were like sorting out candidates in primaries to see who goes head to head for the final game. We'll likely never change that attitude - as American as apple pie.

My thought is how we change politicians and lapdog media from dividing us and fracturing the country more than it is. If politicians live in security and have no fear of the discord they cause through the divisiveness that keeps them in power, then the country is never going to heal or even approach some sort of common ground on much of anything. Where most people think the capitol "invasion" as horrific, I'd much rather congress see it as a wakeup call - that we want leaders not dividers. A little fear as payback for their divisiveness seems like good medicine.

The border issue like so many others is simply a reflection of our leadership vacuum. We have laws; we don't apply them. During Reagan's tenure we did amnesty for illegals, but congress never did it's agreed to part of fixing the problem. That's like parents who tell children to stop wrongdoing but never follow through with corrective measures. I don't see this as some sort of racial issue - just an issue of boundaries and enforcing them. Why have immigration law if you don't enforce it - or why should I bother with traffic laws since governments won't follow their own rules?

The other part of all this is people are leaving their own dysfunctional countries to come here for opportunity. How do those countries get fixed if the people are unwilling to fight? How does it make us a better country if issues like official corruption come here because we are creating both normal and underground structures? When do cops start taking payoffs from illegals because they can rather than going through official channels - that's very much one of the things that keeps third world countries what they are - officially sanctioned corruption.
