Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

It's the cumulative effect of bad decisions that has brought UT to this point, not any one bad decision made by any one person.

People are looking for someone to blame when there are many. Way too many people have made way too many bad decisions over way too long at UT-- and this has led us to where we are in our sports programs. Some can turn around faster than others.
People need to stop looking back and reliving past mistakes over and over, and people need to stop expecting fast food quick fixes. Who is to blame is not nearly as important as doing the hard work of fixing things moving forward.

Football program isn’t dying a slow death. It’s already dead. It happened quickly and it happened with one decision - the hiring of Derek Dooley.

Been a dead program hoping for a miracle to bring it back to life ever since.

Agreed it’s dead but it can at least be fun and entertaining. I was genuinely entertained in the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019 seasons. We can and should have seasons like those on the regular. Championships in football I agree are probably a thing of the past.

I think we could've fixed it several times but we keep making the same mistakes over and over and over. Lots of people have just accepted it as the new normal. Going to be pretty damn hard to turn it around at this point, especially when we are just trying to "do things the right way" instead of soley focusing on winning

People need to stop passing the buck and own their actions. It's called being responsible. Pearl screwed up, and that's on him, not UT.
No question he screwed up. Just a question on what we would have been dealt to keep him. I’d have kept him with post season bans over what we watched in the interim. Donnie and Quonzo ball was awful. Or maybe keeping him would have been worse who knows. Love the mans passion for the job wherever he is. He resurrected our bball hype for sure.

That's all it was. Hiring Derek hoping he would turn into Vince. Trying to polish apples that fell far from the tree.

Fact. Panic booster hire, especially Big Jim.

In my observation at a close distance Dools was a bit of a fake - talked a big game with no substance. He was openly demeaning toward underlings. His wife is a very accomplished OB/GYN and as pleasant a person as you would ever want to meet and have a conversation. The results of his career speaks volumes.
