Bc you are drafting on talent potential alone...... The NBA is a star league..... an average player doesn’t do much for them.

Exactly. Players that are capable of being role players in the NBA are not that scarce. Players that have the POTENTIAL to be elite difference makers are very scarce. You do not overlook at player that has the tools because at age 19 he hasn't been properly taught how to use all the tools in his toolbelt yet. As long as you think he has the character, competitiveness and work ethic then that law of percentages says you should draft them. It is really not that complicated but some people just refuse to get outside their thought bubble of what they want to believe about the situation.

I thought this was probably a 20-22 win, Sweet 16 team that could win a few more if everyone found their roles and fit well together..which they haven't..this team never gelled, and that is why they fell slightly below my expectations.

This team had easily identifiable holes, and it was going to take them gelling together well to kind of hide those holes.

They did gell a few times, which is why you get excited, because you know..you have seen what they could be, but at other times, way too many times...they looked like a pickup team that had never played together.

If the core of this group stayed together another year, with what we have coming in, I would be confident in predicting a 25-28 win E8 team..but thanks to one and done(nothings) we will be a discombobulated mess next year.
Holy hell....what an ungrateful piece of work you are

The two leading scorers on this team are the one-and-dones.

I’m hoping spring starts to build a little bit of excitement around the program.... I’m confident Danny White can get this program turned around..... just going to take some time.
Danny white can’t recruit, I think either from hype or DW they are pushing this social media blitz by the coaches. Realistically there are only 2 guys on the staff that have a known name in recruiting the type of athletes that UT will/should be able to sign. I think they are trying to juice the staff through social media, show how fun these guys are. It’s not a bad idea, but they will have to recruit against the best, and I think really only Garner is comfortable in Those waters. Now, the inverse of that is, just being at a better school makes you seem like a better recruiter! Saban’s name has made a few guys seem like good recruiters, so all coaches probably get a slight bump up In recruiting ability just by being at Tennessee. And before everyone gets all up in arms talking about how the whole staff is great at recruiting; I’m talking about SEC recruiters. And that is a different type of recruiting.

Funny, I just learned about this place this weekend. The recommendation was really good.
Been there twice. Neat atmosphere and a huge menu...but ultimately thought it was overpriced and was always way too packed. Not worth the fuss to get in. You might love it though. Wasn't for me. I actually like the Duluth Diner over in Duluth, GA a lot more.

This is one of the few times I don’t feel our situation is about recruiting..... we have to get everyone..... the school....the administration.... the city all pushing in the same direction.... we need our university to be looked at as a positive place for athletes to go before we will reach the goals we all have for our football program..... we are the joke of the nation so DW has a lot to clean up. As for recruiters.... I don’t think there is enough evidence whether JH can recruit or not long term.... currently.... he took over a 3 win team facing probation so I’m hoping any solid players we can get.

You kind of answered your own discussion. Danny White can't recruit but...he appears to be pretty good at marketing, and he can throw ideas out there on how to recruit, which is mostly marketing with a relationship.

I think Garner, Banks, Jean-Mary, and Burns should be considered good recruiters. I think Ellarbe can recruit his position, whish is all he needs. I think Mack may surprise some with his connections in Memphis and North Carolina. Just need some time and to show that we can be competitive on the field.

I was counting Garner and BJM as the more known commodities. In all reality, Garner is the only coach that no one needed to look up or talk themselves into by parsing his past success relative to previous team, conference etc. again, we can all speculate on how good or surprising they will be. my point was, SEC recruiting is different and all of these guys have to prove it, and I think that’s why they are the most active social media coaches in the conference. When no one knows who you are, I think they are trying to find ways to be known. I gave DW or hype credit for that, I think it’s smart to try and generate excitement for a staff that everyone, including prospects are guessing on.
