So we care even less about championships now, niceWe all know UT will never leave the SEC. The TV money already has been impacting decisionmaking. Donors and their opinions carry even less weight, and decisions have become even more revenue-based. You can see the shift in facility renos and the overall positioning of the university. It has been relatively subtle but will become less so.

And the common fan has less impact than ever before. They are going to cater to the money side. With huge TV dollars the fan in the stands means less and less.Oh, everybody cares about them. There's value in winning. But caring about them isn't the same as doing what it takes to win them in the SEC.
What you're saying is our trajectory is headed towards Vanderbilt incompetence in sports without the academic qualities. Sounds about right.
We could ramp up message board posts declaring that we’re not accepting it...that help? No, I think UT's flag is planted firmly in the middle. The top teams have distanced themselves and created a big gap between those that are mid-pack. UT always has upside, but we've been down a long time-- and people have become much more accepting of that than in the past.

Why is recruiting “bad” ? Because we don’t have a commit yet?Yep recruiting is bad but it is what it is. I'm still VERY excited to see the style and scheme we play with on offense.
People hate on Fulmer, but he championed the common fan experience. He was very attuned to keeping tickets affordable and hosting events for families so kids could experience and carry on UT traditions. He was the one focused on making sure stadium renos created a better experience for all fans. You'll see different reno plans now. They'll reduce capacity and make Neyland more of an entertainment venue.
UT Athletics is a business, pure and simple. Winning Championships or just being competitive has not seemed to be the end game for quite some time. I would like to see a break down of actual revenue generated by ticket sales and licensed apparel as opposed to TV money or revenue generated and divide among SEC schools just for being part of the SEC . Financially no current team in the SEC could afford to leave and only a very few schools nationally can or could afford to go it alone.
Edit to clarify the end game as not willing to pay for the elite coaches in most cases and settling for what they think is a bargain. Hopefully this has and will change.
