Herman didn't want to be caught in the middle of this issue that was causing racial divide so he backed the players who didn't want to sing the song. That didn't go over very well with some powerful boosters and may be one of the reasons he was bought out. I'm sure there were plenty of football related issues that got him fired. This song, Eyes of Texas, is basically sung to the tune of "I've been working on the railroad" and that's the sticking point for the black players. It's all pretty ugly because the really big boosters are taking a stand that they want the song to stand.I have hardly followed it, but I thought it was the players (or some portion) that didn't want to be out there while Eyes of Texas played. Isn't that what Herman was getting burnt for? Maybe I read it wrong.
Saw something? SAW SOMETHING? Are you kidding? That is common #%$@$@ knowledge and that curse has had some serious legs. Next one of us that goes to Jamaica, please, PLEASE find someone to reverse this evil voodoo cloud that continues to hang over Neyland.
So, just turned 31 today. Suck it you old farts!
15 years folks. 15 years.
2006 Tennessee Football: Oh my God we haven't won the SEC East in TWO years!
2008 Tennessee Football: Wait, we lost 7 games this year?! Has that ever happened to us before?
2010 Tennessee Football: We just hired a coach from the Western Athletic Conference that has a losing record what are we doing?
2012 Tennessee Football: We haven't won more than 6 games in 3 years, we have hit rock bottom!
2017 Tennessee Football: We just had an 8 loss season we have DEFINITELY hit rock bottom this time!
2020 Tennessee football: We just got blown out by Kentucky by 27 points at home it ISNT POSSIBLE for it to get worse now!
2021 Tennessee football: We are about to have NCAA sanctions for the foreseeable future and recruiting is struggling we have gone THROUGH the rock bottom!

I am sooo sorry - I hope time eases your pain and leaves you only with those wonderful memories.

This does not fit Jack's narrative. He is not going to like it.While there was the report in the Palm Beach Post regarding Heupel being saddled with the DC holdover from the Frost era (Shannon), I guess he wasn't really the problem that everyone makes him out to be this year (2020). UCF had a 27-game winning streak with Shannon in charge of the defense and took down Auburn in a "National Championship Game". Shannon's success with the UCF defense stretched across the tenure of 2 head coaches. The problem in 2020 was UCF had something like 10 players opt out of the season presumably for Covid reasons, and some of those guys were key players on the defense that they had no comparable replacements for. I posted about that shortly after the Heupel hire and in looking at the table below I would find it difficult to claim that Shannon wasn't a good hire for UCF.
I think to have a relatively good team you probably need to be in at least the top 40 for both offensive and defensive efficiency. Missouri had a decent football team in 2018 the year Dooley took over for Heupel as the OC. Obviously, Josh had a lot to do with Lock's development but his last year, the one with Dooley, MO won 8 games, including beating both us and Florida. They lost to UK, SC, UGA, & UA in the regular season and lost to Oklahoma State in their bowl game. Still that was improvement they hadn't seen in some time. Dooley had a different offensive philosophy such that MO went from essentially last in the nation in Time of Possession to top 40. I imagine that was a significant benefit for the defense.
Given that Josh had the last 12 wins in the UCF 27-game winning streak I'm guessing it may not be that difficult after all for the defense to adjust to its offense's style of play. The last game of 2018 UCF lost to LSU by 8 points. They lost 3 games in 2019 by I think a combined 7 points. I'm reasonably confident that if he does that here we'll have widespread demands to get rid of him. Can you imagine not winning every game? Surely that can't be acceptable. The very definition of mediocrity if you ask me. jmo.

Yeah because doing 79 shots next year would likely do you in.For my 31st birthday, I drank 31 shots of tequila. Beer chasers. Received a lifetime ban from a bar. Had a hangover for a week.
Good times. Definitely put a stop to binging. Whew. Hurts just thinking about that birthday.
Glad that I am too old for that now...
