We should’ve been trying this “Run N Gun” style of play earlier in season. Our base “ingredients” Pons and Fulky don’t mix well with this recipe. That’s why they don’t seem like they are.. cause their style of play isn’t that. This play favors our guards. But our best guards are young and can turn over the ball fast.

Earlier in the season we were winning so I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Vescovi is simply a disappointment, it's as if he shows up every fourth game. Pons must be injured, Fulk....... timid.

We have NO INSIDE GAME. If the defense knows you are going to pass happy the ball around the perimeter and not push it to the paint then our offense is fairly simple to defend. I wont even discuss our rebounding skills because its fairly obvious.

Barnes really needed to hit the portal hard and flush out the bench, get a PG and add some front line depth, in particular, a replacement for Fulkinstein. If he had landed the PG from Villanova and the Big that transferred in to Bama, we would be headed to the FF.

As it is, we should be running a 4-guard setup with KJ,JS,JJ,VB and let somebody set screens for them on the line-- Pons/Olivier, and let SV and JF come in off the bench. Times running out, and Barnes should have done this 10 games ago.

I meant that if we are going to play this style of basketball we should’ve been playing it from the beginning, not towards the end. The younger squad seems to fit this style more. And I agree that we have NO inside game. So this is how you counter it.. faster pace. But I think it’s too late for Fulky to fully embrace the new pace

The other team basicly gets to rest up for 30 seconds while they watch us run our offense or whatever you call it (hot potato maybe). Then they are fresh for their next offensive possession.

Speculation is that we could fall as low as 8 or 9 seed. If that happens, we may not even win that first game in NCAAT
In our current state I doubt we could stay close with a 12 seed. We simply have to start playing better or this is gonna be a complete flame out. They are not gonna let us play Vandy or South Carolina with half their players missing in the NCAA Tournament.

I have to wonder.....if our front court duo of Pons and Fulky aren't athletic enough to play up tempo, what bigs in this conference are? Pons is really more of a 3/4 hybrid athlete than a post up type player. Fulky is more of the same only not as athletic as Pons. So what's left? A 5 guard line up? These have to be two of the more up and down the floor "bigs" in this league.

The problem isn't that they don't fit the style. The problems are Fulky, Pons and James are all injured. I'm not sure if Fulky and Pons are dialed in anymore. Is the team just sick of the season? Will the tournament season light a fire with this bunch? Will the injured get healed up in time to play tournament level basketball? Was the early season team fools gold? We'll get our answers soon enough starting Sunday.

We've got about 4 reserves that couldn't make up a good high school team. Got a chance(English working his magic) to land 2 more 5 stars with Chandler. If this happens we will be a true top 10 team next years. Isn't it interesting how players (Basketball) in the last 2 years started to SUCK to Bama? Nicks Living room fireside chats working for other sports now!!!!!!

I think that one of the problems with this team is that they dont seem to like each other, the Grant/Admiral team were always cutting up with each other, playing pranks and talking about each in media engagements. You do not see this with this team. When Jaden and Keon were moved to starting lineup, the chemistry and play styles changes.

Nate can coach; Avery couldn't. The Talent isn't overwhelming.

Barnes is a coach who under achieves when expectations are high and when they are low he over achieves ... so guess we need to go back to 3 star guys and mold them ...

Respectfully, I think youre projecting some of your frustration with the team. I do this too sometimes. But there have been plenty of nice interactions between the guys that I've seen. Also its just not going to be seen as much when we aren't winning, much less blowing people out, like that last Grant/Admiral team

Wrong. Those guys aren’t post up players. We don’t run and gun. We try, but don’t have guards that penetrate well. We run a very stale offense.

I try to pay attention to body language and facial expressions of players during games, some you can never read (Pons is like Mr. Spock) and some wear their emotions on their sleeves like Fulky and Keon. I could be reading into something that isnt there, but I just get that feeling based on their body language that they do not get along......I could be wrong. I just see that they have regressed so much on both sides of the ball in the past 12 games.

Perfect analogy and spot on. When we are hyped up and seem poised to do big things....is when you'll suddenly see team fall apart. Every year

Well now a bunch of ppl on here are calling them done and trash. So does that analogize us to over achieving in the tournament. Could be a perfect storm.
