I think my favorite part were the poor guys standing at the urinals just trying to take a leak while all this was going on behind them.

I’ve been the guy at the urinal more than once when this has happened. Typically you say, “Whoa whoa” but keep peeing. As we all know, cutting off mid stream is very dissatisfying.

Didn't realize Brian Jean-Mary used to be a DC, looks like Garner is the only guy on that side who hasn't also been a DC.
This could actually be super helpful. This could be a "the whole is better than the part" situation that works in our favor! Maybe none of these individual coaches stand out as unique. But together maybe they bring an unexpected bonus.

The Brian Jean-Mary hire looks very positive on the recruiting side, less so on coaching. If you look at his recruiting history, he was able to pull a lot of highly rated LB's while he was at Texas, but none of them were really developed well. He also recruited some lower ranked players at other positions that turned out fairly well, most prominently former Tennessee recruit Poona Ford, who became a Big 12 DPOY and is now a regular starter with the Seahawks. Lil' Jordan Humphrey was a very productive college WR, and I think is still getting some play with the Saints. He should have some contacts in Texas and Florida where he's from and recruited while at USF. It would be nice if the last addition can be more of a developer with LB's.

Brian Jean-Mary All Time Recruits

I'd like to think I do things that idiots cannot do (or have the good sense not to try?), but there is probably some truth to that quote.

Haha I edited that, I remembered the professor saying that in my first fundamental of engineering course. I thought that wasn’t very nice. But there’s definitely some truth to that in the CE world.

Yeah BJM has a nice background it looks like.

Was a DB coach for a season, was an Associate Head Coach at Louisville with Strong for a few years, Recruiting Coordinator at Texas under Strong and then got AHC & DC while at South Florida (not sure if he was calling the plays though).

Stout resume.

I'm sure it's been posted, but the baseVOLs swept their series and are 3-0 to open the season. Watched the game yesterday, was a battle and went into extra innings then one of our seniors slapped a Grand Slam dead center for 399 ft to put it away.
The thing I love about college baseball is that the #1 team in the country could have a bad game/weekend against anyone and get beat. Or they could run into a team with a hot pitcher and some smokin bats and go down.

College baseball is the most equitable of major college sports.

Seems this name could be our last Defensive hire.

Personally I will get behind it, it seems like a hire Banks is making have worked with the guy. Also he has DC experience as well, coached secondary at a few stops, special teams coordinator and has even been in state with his time at Memphis. Not sure how good he has been at developing talent, but I recall Memphis had a pretty good set of OLBs in his time there. I know Genard Avery got drafted in 2018 from Memphis, but I think he's an ILB.

He played for Walla Walla Washington. I'm sold!

  • He was named the Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) following the 2010 season and was a finalist for FootballScoop.com’s Division II Coordinator of the Year in 2009.
  • Among the other stops in Lorig’s coaching career were one season as the linebackers coach at UTEP (2007), eight seasons at Idaho State (2003-06, defensive coordinator; 2001-02, linebackers; 1999-2000 cornerbacks) and two seasons as the secondary coach at Western Oregon (1997-98).
  • Lorig and Franklin spent the 1999 season together at Idaho State under head coach and current Penn State football analyst and analytics coordinator Larry Lewis.

Appears to be an absolute phenomenal Special Teams Coordinator, but looks like he's a very good OLB coach as well.

Were a baseball school now.

If Banks and Co. could some how land Dixon from PSU and Gaoteote from USC in the transfer portal then the LB room could be upgraded significantly even if Crouch leaves. However, there would still be a void left it Toots leaves.

I don't think it'll be easy to replace Henry T, but I also remember there's some talent on roster... Whitehead if he moves to ILB could be a very good one. Eason is a monster and I think the staff guys from Memphis will know all about him and the other 2 from the trio. I'm also excited about Willis incoming and he's already enrolled which should benefit him a lot.

I'll be more interested to see what Garner does with that DL group I feel like it's got all the talent you could want in a group, with none of the development.
