Another guy was talking about how Bama signs more than 25 annually. Again, this may be something everyone knows, but I didn't lol so I'm posting for others. Is this common sense or? I mean, I'm sure they still get some type of financial aid under the table. Sooooooooo can we sign over 25 now? (This is a rumor based on the guy hearing from a player first hand), so it might be ********

Bama might sometimes have more annual 25-limit spots available than we know about. I got pretty reliable confirmation that Paul Tyson, Will Reichard and Michael Parker enrolled initially as walk-ons to become eligible for voluntary withdrawal replacement schollies that don't count toward annual 25 signings and initial counters limits, only the 85 limit -- via the following exception rule:

(Perhaps there have been more.)

15.5.6.4 Exceptions.

15.5.6.4.1 Voluntary Withdrawal. [FBS/FCS] An institution may replace a counter who voluntarily withdraws from the football team by providing the financial aid to another student who already has enrolled in the institution and is a member of the football squad. For this replacement to occur, the counter must withdraw prior to the first day of classes or before the first game of the season, whichever is earlier, and provide the institution with a signed statement releasing the institution from its obligation to provide institutional financial aid and verifying the voluntary nature of the withdrawal. The institution may immediately (beginning with the fall term) award the financial aid to a student-athlete who has been a member of the team for at least one academic year and has not previously received athletically related financial aid. A student-athlete who has not been a member of the team for at least one academic year may not receive the financial aid during the fall term, but may receive it in a following term (e.g., spring semester, winter quarter). SIAP, but these are quotes from Toot's dad, condensed from BOL (Supposedly) Haven't been on as much so I could have missed it. Sounds made up but who knows

“Pete Golding and Coach (Nick) Saban, they’ve been reaching out... While I can’t speak for Henry, I know after all our discussions he wants to stay in the SEC. And I think he’s leaning towards Alabama. I mean heavily leaning towards Alabama.

“All the other SEC schools reached out to him, too. But one thing that we talked about was that we chose Tennessee the first time when we should have came to Alabama, so let’s not make this mistake twice.”

I got a lot more respect for Coach Saban now... Coach Saban is a man of his word. He’s truly about the player. And the reason why I say that is he advised Henry to wait until April comes around, because the NCAA one-time transfer rule hasn’t passed. It was supposed to pass in January, the day after the national title. And it didn’t. They set it back on the table until April. And Coach Saban told us to wait until April and if this thing passes he was like there’s one more hurdle, which is the SEC needs to pass in-conference transfers also. For him to do that, I’ve got a newfound level of respect for the man. He’s one of those guys that’s truly for his players. I told Henry why not play for a man that’s looking out for your best interests.”

Like I said, Coach Saban is a man of his word and is truly, truly about the player. And I appreciate that. It will depend on the advice and counsel he gets from Coach Saban.

“There’s a rumor going around that Henry is coming back to the West Coast. That’s a nay. That’s not going to happen.

“That’s a nay” im using that

I agree totally, however, I have come to understand that this thread is more like a mix between the Pub/UT football/Around the NCAA all rolled up into one thread. Pretty much, anything goes, as long as the mods don't break out the brooms and start sweeping.
This is the, MJ is the unquestioned goat of all goats, thread.

Poster on VQ with 16 posts in 12 years says DC announcement on Thursday and when the required “which Thursday” was asked Matt4RockyTop responded “4 PM”. OP I’ve never heard of but Matt is solid.
That's encouraging.

Eh, maybe AD White is having a video edited so the coach can tell his players, and address his new team at the same time.
(warm fuzzy feelings)
I think they really wanted this done and announced at halftime last night. A stage is great for an unveil. But getting it done is more important.
