now everyone claiming, including his defense minded HC, that he ruined their defense. Well he didn’t ruin the defense, 2020 was a year no one played any defense. In fact the hurricanes had a damn good offense. So what did him “ruining” their defense get them??
A 7-2 WINNING RECORD. A dang good year




And this is exactly why a DC can’t “win” the resume game here and it’s career suicide for anyone to take this job

Do you think we are the only fanbase who acts like this? There are plenty of others who are just as, if not more, demanding. I will agree that there is an element of Vol Twitter that hurts us way more than helps us.

If the negotiations went too long for your likings then you guys have no grasp on reality not any business sense.

We’re in the process of hiring a staff after the previous AD/coach created a ****ing mess.

It’s incredible. We are a fan base full of Phil Fulmer’s who still think it’s 1999. So much so that this place was in love with Fulmer being named AD

I’ve decided I’m going to let folks do their jobs and I’m going to carry on unaffected.

It’s a crazy idea, but I’m wild like that. I always use the cat filter on Zoom meetings, so I’m kind of a big deal

Why? They should have a list and be going straight down it with guys that meet what they are looking for.... it doesn’t matter what number on the list that person is.... there is no guarantee no matter who we get.

It's not just Vol fans. But the constant over reaction to every tiny thing is exhausting. I mean at halftime of every basketball game this place demands the best coach we've had in years be fired and replaced in the second half. Sometimes it's so bad i go look up the score and we're only winning by a little. Some people feel like every detail needs a reaction and every problem needs someone to blame. Doesn't just apply to Vols, or even just sports.

Our fan base seems to consist of athletics director experts, coaching experts, recruiting experts, analysis experts, legal and contracts experts, and the list goes on ad nauseam. We’re pretty good fans though, come hell or high water. All this expertise gets us down in the weeds is all.

It does matter though, particularly in this league. The further down the list you go the less likely that candidate can get the support staff needed to compete at this level. It's not the end all be all but to pretend it doesn't matter is simply wrong.

It’s why I couldn’t be an AD..... I would fire every coach after every loss.... I have gotten better though.... I start thinking rationally by Monday or Tuesday now.

It really doesn’t matter..... it just has to be the right guy.

All we have to do is look competent on the field for a couple years to change the narrative. It won’t be fixed overnight and it’ll feel like doom and gloom bc there will be fans who still live in a fantasy world where we’re a premier program in college football and expect 10+ win seasons every year. And anything less will have them bashing the AD, bashing the staff, bashing the players.

Gotta step outside that UT bubble and see this situation for what it is. It’s a total overhaul and image rebuild. Temper your expectations and all of this will be much easier to stomach.
